Great book for preschoolers or kindergarten.

My 2-year-old daughter and I love to go to B&N and sample lots of books to figure out which ones to keep on hand for holidays, birthdays, etc. Yesterday we grabbed a stack of Halloween books and this was the only one that even she requested to be re-read several times. There was a point where I wanted to cry at the story's content, as the author brilliantly personifies this pumpkin by describing how ol' Jack grew old and wrinkly with time. What a sweet, sweet story! It discusses real-life concepts in a timeless fashion that is appropriate for all ages. Even my husband said we should go back and pick this story up after payday. You won't regret this choice. I see us reading it all year round for several years to come.

I borought the book from the library to read to the little boy I babysit. We both loved it, it's not the typical 'boo' halloween story at all(he's just 2 and 1/2 and most of the other stories are really scary for him): you can apreciate this holiday in so many other ways. Yesterday he asked me if we could throw the pumpkin already. I'm definetly getting a copy for myself.

My four year old daughter and I love to read this story together (my ten year old daugther loves it as well). Last autumn, we went to pumpkin hunt and were able to integrate this story into our adventure.

This book offers a thoughtful way to approach the cycle of birth, death and renewal. The drawings are great and story was enjoyable.
