About the Author

Bill Briscoe grew up in the best part of the Texas panhandle—in an oil and gas refinery town called Phillips. With a population of 4,000, most people were of the same socioeconomic level, company-owned homes had white asbestos siding and green composition roofs, and almost everyone drove Fords or Chevys.
After graduating with a master’s degree in education, Bill spent most of his career working for a major insurance company as an agency manager and consultant. About five years before retirement, he told his wife he wanted to write a novel based on an idea that had been simmering in his head for ten years. That book is Pepperman’s Promise, the prequel to The Pepperman Mystery Series.

When he’s not writing, Bill enjoys visiting sports venues across the country. He’s attended baseball games in Wrigley Field (Chicago), Camden Yards (Baltimore), St. Louis, and Arlington as well as college football at Baylor, University of Texas, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, and The University of Oklahoma. One especially memorable trip was to South Bend, Indiana, to watch Notre Dame play football. Bill married his wife, Liz, in 1969. They have two daughters, Blythe and Brook, and two grandchildren, Chloe and Foster.
