A little too much perfume sprinkled on the pages for my taste. Ok, the writer is from Texas and an Anglophile - but come on...The last part of the book was in a completely different voice and was readable. I'd say pass on the book and just read the wikipedia version of Bryron's life - his stardom, his love of boys, his love with his sister and the spousal abuse in his one year of married life.

A well- written and vividly reconstructed account of the social and marital mores of the time. A sympathetic and highly nuanced look at the female lot in the age of "Romance".
