Mac is back! Watching the nightly news with her lover, Ace, they hear that a drug war gone bad has accidentally killed Sister Agnes, a nun in a nearby Catholic church. Within a few days, Mac got a call from Sister Agnes' younger sister. She tells Mac that Sister Agnes was murdered .. because of what she knew was going on in the church. Mac investigates and what she finds will change her life forever. I've been privileged to read many of Mr. Snyder's books. The Mac Tuff books are my favorites. Mac is a strong woman who knows how to take care of herself, but isn't so stubborn that she refuses to ask for help when needed. She and Ace make a great couple. Ace put in 20 years on the police force, retired, and spent a year traveling the world. Older, there's nothing he would not do for Mac. Much of this story (and others in this series) takes place in and around Lake Havasu City, Arizona. I spent several years in Havasu, married there, and my BFF is still there. I love the author's descriptions that bring so much realism to his books. There is not much in the way of mystery, but the excitement comes watching Mac take on the church to protect young innocent lives. There are a sniper with ties to the church, a rising body count, kidnapping, arson. ... enough anticipation to ensnare any reader from start to finish. Many thanks to the author who provided a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
