I thought more than likely I wouldn't finish this book and almost didn't start reading it. After the first chapter I was hooked and couldn't put it down. It just sort of pulls you in and you find that what you thought was an easily saved mystery is not so easy after all. I would hope there will be more Tannie Marie mysteries on the horizon. The added humor of two battling adversaries made for a surprisingly enjoyable read.

I read as the "serial read" for the month. Story was great but was looking forward to the recipies promised to be at the end of the book. Where were they? Does the actual book or nook book versions have it? Suggestions for future serial reads containing a glossary: if you're going to publish it, then put the glossary as an extra on the first day's read, so it can be referenced later. Publishing it last is too late. I had already looked them all up on google translate.

This story has a strong woman as the main character who gives advice and recipes to heal aching hearts. She is also brave and intuitive.

Thankfully there was a glossary at the end of the book. I really enjoyed the book, a lot of surprising twists and turns, wasn't sure who did it, and I was surprised, never saw it coming until I was reading it

I am so glad I chose to read Recipes for Love and Murder on my Nook App in June. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading. Language and terms were sometimes difficult to understand. I enjoyed the characters and concept so much I decided to stay with the book. A murder with intrigue and unusual characters in their own ways. A couple of love stories had me pulling for everyone to end up safe and sound. Tannie Maria and her co-workers at the newspaper were a perfect fit to the telling of the story. And thank goodness for the police department in every way possible. I don't want to tell the story with all the twists and turns. Everyone needs to experience the characters, especially Tannie Maria and her cooking.

I loved this book! I learned new ways of looking at life through Tannie Maria and her African culture, while trying to solve a murder mystery. A little romance and lots of African vocabulary and cooking.

A great story about friends, murder, food and mystery. When things change up at Tannie Maria's job she just learns to go with the flow. Love and recipes go great together. Until someone is murdered. When you work for a paper then your investigative instincts kick in. Mystery and suspense will keep you guessing. Laugh out loud moments makes the story even better. Team work and a few clues stumbled on by accident causes things to happen. I read it on Barnes&Noble serial reads. I have meet some new authors this way. Will be looking forward to reading more of Tannie Maria's adventures!

Recipes for Love and Murder by Sally Andrew is a cozy mystery that will have your mouth watering. If is a book that is full of suspense and budding relationships and lot of food. Tannie Maria is a widow who loves to cook and feed her creations to her friends. She also works for the local newspaper and is an advice columnist giving advice and recipes to people who write to her, sort of a Dear Abby and Julia Childs combined. Maria also is an amateur sleuth who helps to solve a murder (well, more than one murder). The police officer is not happy with her involvement in his case, and he is also worried about her safety. He also enjoys her cooking! What a combination. Some of the words in the story are South African dialect, but there is a glossary in the back of the book. Most of the words are easy to figure out their meaning. It was an educational experience! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. The plot and the characters are well developed. It was a B&N serial read where a few chapters are given each day until the book is completed. It is a great way to "meet" new authors. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like cozy mysteries.
