We were in the process of adopting a retired racing greyhound and this was one of the 2 resource books most highly recommended. I read it before we adopted our boy and it is an excellent source, both before and after adoption.

This book was a great resource. We rescued a greyhound from the track and we can't imagine life without him! He's a big sweetie. If you are looking to adopt a sweet, family friendly dog, rescue a greyhound!

I have had large dogs my whole life. When I adopted Banana I though I knew everything that I needed to know about her and her care. This was not true, different dogs have different needs. This book was a big help!!

Great book for learning what to expect when you bring home your new greyhound.

If there is one flaw in this book, it's that it does not include all other dog breeds in the title. Though written for those interested in Greyhounds, the training and behavioral information is cutting-edge, and applies to every breed. Even if you're not planning to add a Greyhound to your family, if you have a dog, BUY THIS BOOK! You'll learn how to manage behavior problems in a kind and humane way, and how to 'catch your dog doing it right.' This book is such a breath of fresh air, and absolutely the one book I will recommend to ALL dog owners. I cannot rate this high enough. 5 stars somehow seems paltry. With the information shared here by Lee Livingood, I was able to turn my incorrigible dog into the 1999 National Service Dog of the Year.

Easy to read, lots of good info for people who have not previously owned a greyhound. Good points to think about when you are considering adopting a retired racer.

This book is great. The information about the greyhound is interesting. The traing tips are invaluable. And its all broken up into easy to follow pieces just like all "dummies books." This is a must have for all greyhound families and maybe for any dog owner in general.
