Once you meet Carina & Quillon you won't be able to stop with book 1 you'll have to get "Sweet Boundless" and "The Tender Vine " so you might as well buy them all now. Kristen Heitzman is great at drawing you into the story until you feel like you right there with Carina in the mine . Whenyou are done with these books fast foward to the 21st century and read "The Machelli Family" series. Then of course you will be a fan and won't be able to read enough of Kristen's books. Good news she has many out there so keep on reading!

One of the best historical novels i have read in a long time. It has mystery, romance and a real inspirational story how faith can work when there seems no hope. Carina was running away from with hopes that her beloved would follow her to a mining town. A mining town where hopes are smashed daily. See how she finds how faith and forgiveness.

393 pages, well edited. First in series. Free. The next in the series aer $5.95 each. This book is a cliff hanger. It is slow moving and nothing ever happens. If I had had to read Bueno, one more time, I think I would thrown my nook in frustration. There is quite a bit of religion in this non religious book. There is a lot of tradgedy, death and violence. Readers know from page ten on, who are the bad guys and who are the good guys and who the heroine will end up with. Parts of this book are just plain stupid. There is rape, abuse, lynchings, throat cutting, head bashing, women beating, and other abuses, including a pet mule getting killed. I really, really did not care for this book. I will not be purchasing the rest of the series. I hate cliff hangers. This is chick liit, but it is not really a romance. I did not like like hardly any of the characters. For readers, ages 18 and up. I was not impressed. AD

The story would be much stronger if it was not as heavily entombed in biblical verse and religious inference. I would not have purchased this or the next book in the series had I known it would have been a Christian bible study book. When I skipped all such references to get to the meat of the novels, they each took only the space of a 1.5 hour connector flight. Please more clearly explain this genre of books in your B&N descriptions.

Very slow moving. Difficult to connect with.

Good, but slow moving at times. Enjoy books of this era and reading of their reading of their faith, which most of them had then

I've read many of Ms Heitzmann's novels. Each have left me with a desire to read more. Rose Legacy was no different. In fact, there's always a twist and she did not disappoint.

This book held my attention all the way through to an ending that leads me to wanting the next book and the others Kristen has written. The setting of the story is a short distance from my home in western Colorado. I like stories that help me feel history. The road to the "ghost town" is a scary 4-wheel drive but I may connect with a tour this summer just to see it.

My introduction to Kristen Heitzmann was through her most recent contemporary romantic suspense novel The Edge of Recall and I loved it. When I found out that she also had previously written a series in my favorite genre of Christian Historical Fiction I added it to my TBR list. Then I discovered that Bethany House was going to re-release the series with beautiful new covers and I could not wait to get my hands on the series! After reading the first novel, I am glad that I did. Originally published in 2000, now being re-released in 2010.Carina Maria DiGratia is a high class Italian transplanted with her family to Sonoma, California. After her heart is broken, she runs away to make someone work for her love. It is after she gets to her destination that she starts a journey of learning that maybe it is God's will but for different reasons than her own. Through this story we get to know Carina and also a less likely character of Quillan. Getting to know his history explains some of her own and God is definitely working in Carina's life in mysterious ways. This is a story of romance, redemption, vengeance and love. It ends with a string that causes a reader to have to get the next book (ordered my from PaperBackSwap thank you very much) and on the edge of your seat you want to know what comes next. I recommend this story, and I'm certain will recommend the series.*Thanks to Jim Hart of Bethany House Publishers for providing a copy for review.*

It was slow moving and ended with a cliffhanger. However, i was drawn in and will read more. Religion is not bad in books, but some christian ficton takes it further. This may not be for all readers.

"The Rose Legacy" is the first book in "The Diamond Of The Rockies" trilogy, and a REALLY good book on it's own. With more twists and turns than a plate of spaghettithe plot slowly simmers, and thickens to a sweet ending, like perfect marinara. Carina, a remarkable woman, leaves her life of priveldge to face one disaster after another. She flees cad of a finance, only to lose all but her most prized posessions to an enigmatic rogue pirate of a freighter, and then discover the house she had purchsed occupied by the worst sort of thugs! What else could go wrong?

Enjoyed this read, the characters were great, but editing got sloppy towards the end.

This was a very enjoyable, well written book. It was about 400 pages. Fair warning, though: IT IS A CLIFFHANGER. You will need to purchase at least one, possibly more books at $8 each to get a conclusion. I hate that in a book and have deducted a point for this reason.

This book was a little too religious for my taste. That being said it was a good book and it was free.
