About the Author

Dr. Christopher Bono is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and Chief of Orthopaedic Spine Service at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Boston, MA. Dr. Bono also is Assistant Professor, Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Co-Director, Harvard MGH-BWH Combined Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship. In addition, he serves as Adjunct Staff in the Spine Research Center, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Ohio in Cincinnati, OH.Dr. Jeffrey S. Fischgrund is the Chairman of the Orthopaedic Department at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, one of the largest Orthopaedic departments in the United States. He is also the physician lead of the Orthopedics Center of Excellence and the program director of the Orthopedic Surgery of the Spine Fellowship. Dr. Fischgrund has been on the Beaumont, Royal Oak staff for over 20 years, focusing on spine surgery. He holds a faculty appointment as Professor, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on spine pathology and was the editor of Orthopaedic Knowledge Update 9, the definitive text on orthopaedic surgery published by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). Currently, he is the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the official clinical review Journal of the AAOS. He is in private practice in southeast Michigan and has performed nearly 6,000 spinal surgeries on a wide range of pathology.
