Royal Wedding: A Princess Diaries Novel by Meg Cabot

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother’s leaked “fake” wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia’s father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch.  Can Mia prove to everyone—especially herself—that she’s not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

I really loved this one, possibly more than the original series. I grew up with the books, and being in my early 20s now, this was a really fun read. It's a bit shorter than the average book I read (I finished it in about 3 hours), but it's really charming and fun. I hope the new Mediator book is half as good as this, because if it is, it will still get a 5/5 from me.

I grew up with Princess Mia, and have been taking time to read back through the Princess Diaries series over the last year, so when I heard about Royal Wedding, of course I bought it immediately. I was not disappointed! Mia is still Mia, and her life is still all about dealing with one crazy event after another... just with a bit more grace and experience under her belt. I much enjoyed getting to learn what everyone from the series is up to now, and as always, I enjoyed Mia's quippy voice telling us about her absurd life. Fans of the series should love this new installment. It is wonderful, hilarious fun!

The Princess Diaries was one of my favorite series growing up. I grew up with Mia and related to her a lot. Now Mia has grown up with me and I can read these books and still see some of myself in her. She's still the same loveable neurotic princess but in a more mature and toned down way. Getting a look into Mia's future and where she is in her life years after high school is more than I could have ever hoped for. This book is hilarious and full of wonderful nostalgia that I think all fans of the series will enjoy!
