Tanya Martin is a gym teacher by day and wide receiver for the Cleveland Clash by evening. When she runs into her ex-best friend (and secret love) Cam Simmons, a Superbowl champion and MVP, on the same day as she finds her father’s gym in financial trouble, her day can’t get much worse. When Cam keeps showing up everywhere Tanya is, she’s at a loss on how to shake him. Cam knows he made a mistake by ignoring Tanya for so long. Now that he’s in Cleveland for a few weeks, he must figure out a way to make amends and maybe get her to accept him in a whole new light. This was a quick read and good story. It was easy to see why Tanya felt the way she did. Watching her fall for Cam all over again and trying to stay strong while trying to save her father’s business was something worth reading. All of the characters were well written. I enjoyed reading about them as Cam and Tanya dealt with being reunited and re-learning each other all over again. I highly recommend to anyone that likes strong heroines and contemporary books with a sports theme. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**

I enjoyed this book from Elley Arden quite a bit. It had a new spin on the sports love story angle since both the main characters were athletes & I liked that a lot. The first part of the book dragged just a bit for me but the second part was amazing. I am looking forward to the next the in the Cleveland Clash series. This was the first book I read by Elley Arden but I will be reading more. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

I love sports romances and this book not only has a female athlete as the heroine, she’s also playing a non-traditional female sport – football – which I just love! And throw in the fact that the hero is also a professional football player – an MVP at that – and that the book centers around saving the heroine’s father’s boxing gym, and there was all sorts of fun, sporty, sweaty goodness happening here. Add to it that this is a second chance romance that also has a best friends to lovers theme, and this was one happy girl. When Cam left the old neighborhood, he slowly cut ties to everything back home – including the ties to his best friend Tanya. Tanya has never forgiven Cam for breaking her heart, and now that he’s come back to town in the off-season even all that hurt can’t cover up the intense attraction these two have for each other. And when Tanya’s dad needs help saving his gym, Cam insists on helping any way he can – even if it means being the main attraction at a bachelor auction to raise funds. One of my favorite things about this book has to do with the deep family connections that both Tanya and Cam have. Even though both haven’t had perfect childhoods – Cam’s is still dealing with his father abandoning the family and Tanya is still trying to bring her parents together even though they've been divorced for years – you can really feel all the love in these families. And once more of the story behind each of these families was revealed, it just made me love them more. Traditional or not, these families embodied all the important aspects of being a family. This was a good quick read that had some heat and some sweet, and even some laughs. A definite must read for any sports romance fans! This is a very real story that readers become part of.  The sweet romance combined with the hardships of life was very well done.  The lives of the rich and famous combine with hometown families and pride in a way that tugs at your heart.  I love the focus on women in sports, a very underappreciated and underexposed focal point for novels.  The contrast between men’s and women’s pro football was quite poignant.  Arden, writing with her usual well-polished, light-hearted style combines this all into an unforgettable package. The main characters in this novel definitely carry the story well.  The heroine’s hopes and fears define who she is and how she lives her life.  I really enjoyed seeing our hero remember his roots & what made him who he is today.  These aspects not only define who these characters are as individuals, but also how they come together as a couple.  Their mutual histories are also quite intriguing, allowing readers to understand how these individuals came to be who they are today.  The supporting cast in this novel was quite well developed as well.  I enjoyed getting to know them in the context of their relationships with the main characters.  The local slang is apparent in the dialogue and flows naturally.  It definitely adds to the entire aura of the story and to how readers perceive these individuals. This is definitely another winner from Arden.  It is a great start to a fantastic new series that I’m very excited about.   Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

This story begins with Superbowl MVP Cam Simmons returning to his hometown of Cleveland. He catches up with his former best friend Tanya Martin, of the newly made female football team Cleveland Cash. The two of them have a lot of history, including the personal history of the intimate kind. She is angry with him at first - for staying away for so long -5 years and no contact. Not even a Christmas card. Cam cannot stay away from Tanya and basically follows her until she agrees to let him back in as a friend. The attraction is still there but Tanya has been hurt and is so hesitant and scared that Cam knows he must go slow with her or lose all he has gained back. Tanya is a little upset to find Cam is everywhere! At the family owned gym, the school where she works, the restaurant her mother owns, just everywhere! Cam does not want her to cut him out anymore and works overtime to get back in her good graces.  Finally, she gives in to the chemistry between them and he is so grateful to be intimate with her once more. To show her how much she means to him. Tanya tells him she just wants to be friends with benefits.  They both realize they have feelings for one another and are both struggling with how to handle it. Tanya is afraid to get to close with him going back to Boston soon. Cam is afraid to offer more when she has a life in Cleveland and he has a life in Boston. How do they bring it together and make a life that is in both places? Is what they feel enough to make a future?
