Pregnant Rose Patterson escapes from the confinement of Dr. Whitney's illegal lab where she and Kane Cannon were used in genetic experiments which culminated with her carrying. Kane also managed to break out of the incarceration. Whereas she hides, he joins Mack McKinley's GhostWalker Team Three. In, Mexico, McKinley's squad works a hostage rescue mission. Kane realizes that his Rose is inside. During the heat of the skirmish, Kane and Rose find each other, but are not near his teammates. Although she is eight months pregnant and distrusts everyone, she knows with her unborn baby's soul she can rely on Kane to take her to safety although Whitney pursues them for the child he covets. This is a fresh entry in the GhostWalker saga due to the relationship between the lead couple. They were matched together by evil Whitney in his lab and the fetus she carries is the results of his malevolence; yet both risk their lives to keep the unborn safe especially from the abusive researcher. Series fans will appreciate this strong thriller as the romance takes a back seat to the action. Harriet Klausner

If you like action, suspense, romance, and gorgeous men in BDUs who know how to wage war and make love, you will LOVE this book.... I am a huge fan of Christine Feehan and the GhostWalker series, and this book does NOT disappoint. Brilliantly crafted characters, a plot with more twists and turns than a treacherous mountain road, and hair raising, death defying action, wrapped in the most poignant of love stories. A genetically enhanced alpha male who can singlehandedly wipe out a small army then hightail it home so he can cradle his newborn son then make beautiful, passionate love to his woman: all this while protecting his country, friends, family and innocent civilians from drug lords and a homicidal maniac.....what's not to like???????? The women give as good as they get in this series; tough enough to fight alongside their men in battle, smart enough to let the men take the lead when they need to. Brilliant. I can't wait for #10.....

I have to say after reading the review by harstan I was expecting more of an action story than romance but she got it wrong when she said the romance takes a back seat in this thriller. The action was hot and the passion hot also. Like always christene feehan delivers a hot action packed romance loved it just like all the other ghostwalker novels. a must must read

If you love the Ghostwalker series (which I do) This is a book for you. This latest Ghostwalker book is one of my favorites. There is a lot of action in this one. Mixed of course with the love story. I couldn't put it down. Read it in one day.

I love Ms. Feehan's work, especially the GhostWalker series. If you like action, sexy interaction, genetic manipulation, suspense, and the whole "soul mate" idea-- this is the book for you! I couldn't put it down, just like the other GhostWalker books

Ruthless Game is the 9th in the GhostWalkers Series and one of the best. I have been waiting for Kane and Rose's story since they were introduced in Deadly Game, book 5. Kane and Rose are "paired" and in book 5 Kane helps Rose escape Dr. Whitney's labs. He knows she's pregnant and is basically looking for her for months after the escape before he finds her before she has the baby. Obviously they have a lot to discuss at that point and the bad guys are all around them. It'll take Kane, Rose and the rest of his whole team to keep the baby safe from the bad guys.

I wasn't sure I wanted to read anymore of the GhostWalker series after reading the last one with Mack and Jaimmie as the main characters. The brutal sex scenes in it were on the verge of violence. A total turnoff for me. So I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this one or not. But I took a chance and was thrilled to find a story that didn't center around a man who had to totally dominate the woman to the point of abuse. And I completely loved them coming together to keep their baby safe. Mom and Dad can both kick some ass! And love each other at the same time.

This was a different book for this series. Rose and Kane were mentioned in Deadly Game. It was nice to see both of them again. It was also nice to have a glimpse of the characters from past books mentioned in this one even if it was only in the last chapter. There is a lot of action in this book as well as the budding romance between Rose and Kane. I love seeing the team work together as well as coming to accept Rose and her baby. It will be interesting to see how the children grow up. We don't seem to find out a lot about Rose's abilities. We have a few peeks but no details. It was kind of sad to see a trusted character turn on the GhostWalkers. It would have been nice to find out more about the traitor and what impact he may have had with the other GhostWalkers and their families. I am interested to find out who the next book is about. I have my ideas after reading this book.

Meh, I think I'm done with this series. I fully expect a Feehan novel to be overwrought and overwritten and, while I usually find them entertaining, you could easily edit out 10-20% of this one without noticing. Also, the subtitle of this particular book could be "when inconsistencies become plot holes".Plot: While I appreciate the Feehan spends a lot of effort on getting the fight scenes right, I wish she's spend some of that energy on the actual romance. The genetic engineering + pregnancy/baby = insta-love really bugged me. Also, the political and cultural analysis of what is probably Mexico was over-simplified to the point where I really wanted to yell at the author to shut off the cable news and do some actual research. That's probably just a personal annoyance though. I think the biggest problem with the plotting is that the main storyline has changed so hugely since the beginning of the series that I don't think Feehan really knows where she wants to take it; it's all over the place.Characters: Rose, the heroine of Chinese ancestry, is described as a "porcelain doll" and "little ballerina" to such an extent that it was kind of fetishy-creepy, especially when she was being contrasted with the really huge Kane. While they both made the occasional questionable decision, Kane's were so consistently moronic as to fall into TSTL territory.Pacing: I don't know. After the first 50-100 pages, I was mostly skimming.Oh, and a lesson to me to read the back of a book before buying it--this is apparently a not-so-secret pregnancy story, complete with graphic childbirth scene, repeated descriptions of breast-feeding and a super-baby. Really not my thing, but if you like your romances based around pregnancy and babies, you might be more inclined to like this whole story than I did.

Forced into fatherhood by the insane Dr. Whitney's build-a-baby plan, Kane Cannon didn't even know what happened to the possible mother of his child. Not, that is, until he encounters her smack in the middle of a hostage rescue mission south of the border. Now he's on the run with an extremely deadly, extremely pregnant fellow GhostWalker, one he'd give his life for in a heartbeat, if she doesn't kill him.Fleeing for her life and that of her unborn baby, Rose Patterson isn't sure who she can trust, but Kane might just make the cut. If they can survive drug dealers and psychotic killers, she's willing to give him a chance - but first she'll have to tell him her own secret and take a chance on him leaving forever.A bit too predictable, but not as bad as a couple of the previous installments.

I was hoping for something interesting when I picked this book up for some rainy day reading, but I was pretty disappointed. It was a rehash of all the other ghostwalker books with nothing new or interesting to add. I put it down about half way through because it was so predictable I didn't need to read the rest of it. I get the sense that the author is almost bored with this series or maybe I am just projecting my own feelings about it.

I wasn't sure how she could pull off the baby being born in the middle of the book. But she did it wonderfully.I really, really, really liked Ruthless Game. Kane is Alpha with such a soft side and I love the way Rose is written. Do NOT pass up reading this book if Street Game didn't grab you, this book will excite you =)

I'm listening to the audio book. I tried to keep listening, even though the reader's voice doesn't sound at all feminine. The story might speed up once they get out of the hideout, but if I hear one more time how much he desires her and is going to protect her no matter what, and neither of them came from a family, yadda-yadda, I am going to scream. I got it the third time! The same emotions get repeated over, over and over again. There's no action. I really tried to hold out until they leave the hideout hoping there would be some substance, but I'm done.
