Overview

Safari Adventures is a collection of 38 original animal parables and illustrations along with companion Bible stories. Each story, whimsically illustrated, reinforces basic Christian values and godly characteristics.

In a world torn with hate, abuse, fear, mistrust, and all sorts of other evils, each simple story reminds the reader, listener and teller of the God who offers peace, compassion and understanding to the hurting heart living in a hurting world. Within the pages of each story the listener and reader is carried on a mystical safari adventure to the world of wild animals who experience human emotion and diverse personalities and who also must learn to live and get along with others.

In this collection of parables Kurt Jarvis has, through creative story, captured the essence of human scenarios of the every day. His animal characters face and resolve similar human life situations.

The comic relief of the safari animal world transports the reader and listener to this magical place where the mind and heart can safely face its own shortcomings, fears and apprehensions. In the safety net and retreat of these stories, children, teens and adults can discover new strength to continue on and be renewed in body, mind and soul.

Jesus, the Master Storyteller, used parables to teach life lessons and answer the deepest of theological issues. Safari Adventures carries on that tradition of using Story to meet the human heart and soul needs of the day.

About the Author

Originally from southern New Jersey, Kurt Jarvis retired from a long career in social work as his primary profession. He was also a Christian & Missionary Alliance pastor and official worker for 24 years.
Kurt continues active international storytelling, training and teaching ministry. Kurt has had a lifetime of church, denominational ministry and international missions. He has served in over 50 countries in volunteer missions work training church leaders and children’s workers in effective strategies for teaching the Bible. In 2001 he founded Chronological Bible Storytelling for Kids, CBS4Kids, (and adults) and Bible Story of God ministries, a non-profit under American Ministry Support.
In past years Kurt, and his wife, Judy, served as interim pastor for a New Jersey Alliance church and Kurt was Children’s Pastor and Children’s Ministry Director for more than 25 years in N J. They both were involved for over fifteen years directing summer camps for elementary children and teens and camps for mentally and physically disabled adults in the States and Canada. Kurt has also served on several national teams and boards for The Christian & Missionary Alliance, The International Network of Children’s Ministry, Bible Story Network and Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds in California. Kurt has enjoyed extensive volunteer efforts as a professional storyteller.
In 2015 Kurt authored and published the 120 chronological stories book and several other chronological Bible story books which have been translated into six languages. His story books and training materials and workshops are being used in numerous countries to teach the basic Story of God in the oral storytelling system. Kurt expanded his lifetime art interest and endeavors in recent years which provided him the encouragement to tackle the arduous task of completing the over 275 illustrations for this literary project.
