Scottish Werebear: An Unexpected Affair by Lorelei Moone

Romance novelist, Clarice Adler, has lost the inspiration to write ever since dumping her cheating boyfriend. How do you dream up a plot of two people falling in love, when you've stopped believing in love yourself? But her deadline is looming, and her career hangs in the balance, so she decides to lock herself away on the secluded Scottish Isle of Skye to finish her manuscript. Upon meeting Derek McMillan there, it seems she's found her new muse and the words start to flow out of her as if by magic. Clarice falls for him, hard, despite knowing nothing about the man, except that he's unavailable.

Derek McMillan has been managing his farm and renting out a few holiday cottages on his own for years now. He deals with the occasional tourist for some extra money, but mostly keeps to himself. When he first lays eyes on the curvy beauty, Clarice, he immediately regrets accepting her booking. Lightning strikes, and as much as he tries to deny it, his inner bear knows that she's his mate. But he's a shifter, and she's a human, and the two can't ever mix, can they?

In this steamy paranormal romance novella, follow along as an impossible love blossoms between two people, who couldn't be more different. One might say fate intended for them to meet, if you believe in that sort of thing, but they're both set on fighting their attraction with everything they've got. They're going to need another push to admit to themselves as well as each other what's going on...

This story is intended for adult audiences only.

Scotland, introvert, shifters, romance, novella It's a dirty trick to get the first one free and find yourself compelled to scout out more! Great characters and the plot moves along quickly. Basically, two introverts find immediate attraction and have to work it out. But she's human, and he's a bear shifter who can't believe he's been mated to a human. There is situational humor throughout, and some erotica near the end. I really enjoyed it!

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast. Clarice Adler is a romance author on a deadline. Trying to finish her latest novel and having trouble finding the rest of the story locked away in her soul. After her boyfriend cheats on her she decides to find a place, far from home, where she can concentrate on her writing and heal her broken heart. She ends up on the lovely Isle of Skye, on a working farm that also hosts several holiday cottages for extra income. McMillan Farm has been in Derek’s family for centuries and Derek, as the current owner and caretaker loves it and is determined to keep it running and in the family for centuries more. Derek loves the place for its tranquility and the solitude it offers for his kind. Derek has a secret. The minute Clarice and Derek meet they feel a strong attraction to one another. Clarice tries to ignore it, determined to keep her heart to herself from now on and besides, she is sure that a man like Derek has to be married. Derek also tries to ignore his attraction to Clarice. She is human and would run away if she knew what he was. This is a very sweet, short-story with lots of back and forth between the main characters, mostly in their thoughts. The story flows smoothly through the two-week time period Clarice has set aside to finish her book. I’m happy that this will be a series as other characters were introduced that are very intriguing and I look forward to hearing their stories. I also enjoyed the narration of the story. The tone and inflection the narrator used to depict characters was very good and provided clear distinction for each character. All-in-all, very enjoyable. Thank you Ms. Moone!

Scottish Werebear: An Unexpected Affair is my first book by Lorelei Moone. Scottish Werebear: An Unexpected Affair is a quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms Moone has crafted a well written book with great characters, a bit of drama, and enough sizzle to steam your glasses. I enjoyed reading Derek and Clarice's story and look forward to reading more from Lorelei Moone in the future. Scottish Werebear: An Unexpected Affair is a complete book, but there is a tiny bit of cliff-hanger. I hate cliff-hangers but I'm ok with the way this book ended. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
