About the Author

Jeanna Janes is a native Kentuckian and avid nature lover. She currently lives in Indiana with her loving and supportive family. As a long-time volunteer at her community's elementary school, her goal is to inspire, educate, and encourage children to read and write at an early age. She has worn many hats in her lifetime: actress, nurse, wife, mother, aunt, and more. The latest hat is that of an author. Jeanna is excited to share her debut book with you and hopes you enjoy the adventure of Seas Apart as much as she enjoyed creating its world, characters, and story.
At the young age of only 13, Sammy began working on the first illustrations for Seas Apart. Given only the manuscript, she was able to create images that captured the author's vision perfectly. Sammy is a self-taught artist without any formal training other than the occasional group art class. From the time she was a small girl, you would find her "pen in hand" as she created flawless ink sketches. Her love of animals and ocean life is well portrayed in Seas Apart as the chapter images come to life. Sammy is a very motivated and passionate artist. It was Jeanna's great privilege to collaborate with her in Seas Apart.
