Great book, great series. Dana Mentink is proving to be one of my new favorite authors. The book continues featuring members of the Gallager family, in this case Angela, a Navy Chaplain, who has doubts about her calling after being nearly killed in Afghanistan. Her aide took a bullet for her, and now she must live with that. Called upon to help the brother of her assistant, she teams up with former Navy doctor, Dan Blackwell. The plot thickens as they try to figure sort out their enemies from the friendlies. This book will keep you guessing which is which right to the end. Good job, Ms Mentink!

Death is one misstep away... Another wonderful story in Dana Mentink's exciting Pacific Coast Private Eyes series! Seaside Secrets is a little more serious in nature, more than one character is dealing with PTSD, but is still filled with lots of spine-tingling suspense and romance. This was a fun read because I could guess some things easily and others came as quite a surprise. For me, half the fun of reading a mystery or suspense novel is trying to solve the mystery or find the killer along with the characters. And another thing I just have to mention, I'm a lighthouse fan and this cover is simply gorgeous. The storm clouds and rough seas also adds some delicious drama enticing you to read. Seaside Secrets is a story you won't want to miss and I, for one, am looking forward to the next book in this exciting series from the talented Dana Mentink. (I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)

I love this series from award-winning author, Dana Mentink! The book features Angela Gallagher, the second sister to fight crime and solve mysteries. Angela is a complex character who is a navy chaplain struggling with PTSD and her place in the world after her assistant gave his life for hers on the battlefield. Her life mainland is anything but calm, however, as she quickly finds herself drawn into a mysterious situation in the seaside town of Monterey, California. Originally heading to town to help her former assistant's brother, Tank Guzman, Angela finds Monterey full of surprising individuals with hidden tails and dark secrets of their own. Along the way she partners up with Dr. Dan Blackwell, a former military surgeon whose practice is on hold as he recovers physically from an accident but whose emotional scars also run deep. This unlikely pair share the trauma of their former military lives and must learn to work together to right some wrongs, uncover the mysterious undertakings within the towns residents and heal from both their pasts. I highly recommend Seaside Secrets for a quick passed christian fiction Love Inspired Suspense novel!

Seaside Secrets explodes with action from the very first chapter and the fast-paced, high-stakes tension continues through the entire book. There’s also a nice balance of delicious romance, authentic emotional struggles, and a message of hope and courage – as well as a few moments of humor to let your shoulders relax just a tad. I really liked the characters in Seaside Secrets, the secondary as well as the main. Jeb is hysterical – and his service dog is a sweetheart. Marco and Donna (from Dangerous Tidings) are equally fun, and I found myself grinning frequently at Donna’s feistiness. On top of these, a whole slew of compelling secondary and tertiary characters kept me engaged and trying to figure out whodunit… and what “it” is that the “who” has done. (lol) Dan and Angela make a great team, and their separate personal battles made them even more relatable. In particular, I found Angela’s fight against PTSD and her struggle to find her footing with God again to be written especially well and with great insight and sensitivity. Some very touching conversations – with her sister and with Dan – have their roots in this battle. It’s a battle that attacks Angela physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and it will be meaningful to anyone else fighting an attack against all fronts, whether it be PTSD or health issues or a broken heart. Intriguing, action-packed, and compelling, Seaside Secrets belongs on your must-read list! The plot never lags, and the characters set up camp in your heart. Bits of humor mingle with poignant moments and intense drama as well as heart-fluttering romance, achieving the ideal tone for a great romantic suspense. While Seaside Secrets is the second in a series, Dana Mentink has written it well as a stand alone too. To be honest, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to this story or these characters and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series – due out later this year – in hopes of catching another glimpse of them. (I received a copy of this book in exchange for only my honest review.)

Seaside Secrets had me hooked from page one! This book is number two in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. The story centers around Angela Gallagher, a Navy chaplain, who sets out to help the brother of the assistant who gave his life to save her in combat. She is helped by Dr. Dan Blackwater, a surgeon, who was in the field with her when her assistant died. Both of them are thrown into the action as they are trying to figure out what is going on. They quickly figure out that people's stories are not adding up and they don't really know who can be trusted. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and see first hand their battles with PTSD and their honesty about the struggles with their faith while staying on the edge of my seat to see what was going to happen next. This book kept me guessing until the very end! I would definitely recommend it. Once again, Dana Mentink found that perfect balance of romance and suspense! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was blown away with this story, the message is strong, the story explosive, and filled with mystery and drama, individual destinies, and the horrible pain and fatigue, many returning service personnel feels and lives with. The story is so well written, I inhaled it, as it kept flowing of the pages. I loved every turn and twist the plot took, and there were plenty. Angela and Dan had that one perfect moment in time, a basketball game, of all things, before their lives took a turn, and was never the same again. Now, on a mission, working together to solve the mysteries, I loved the teamwork they were able to accomplish, and the connection they had with each other. Even the sort of mentoring with each other, they took upon themselves, amongst the explosive, non stop, fearful action. They both had deep wounds from their military service time. The things they had seen, experienced, and lived through, the nightmares, flashbacks, the PDST especially Angela had, it was so well written, I nearly felt the pain and torment they felt. Dan's support and guidance, when Angela admits, she has lost her connection to God, and the ensuing words, of how He never leaves us, His patience with us, were comforting to read. The lessons of forgiveness, to ourselves, and to another was exemplary, a teaching I want to remember myself. The story has nail-biting suspense, filled with mystery, danger, and fear, as there's the doubt, that you can't trust no one, not even those, you should run to, at the time of trouble. The human tragedies are touching, the lives and destinies, all makes you take a pause. The budding romance, the feelings Angela and Dan are developing towards each other are not only sweet, but also healing. This story is just all around an amazing tale of God's guidance, His faithfulness, forgiveness, and plan for us, and how it all works out, when it comes to our lives, while at the same time delivering thrilling suspense and action in an intriguing tale ~ Five Spoons

The second in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series, Seaside Secrets is no disappointment! Dana Mentink never ceases to amaze me with her creativity in the suspense genre. This book can stand alone rather than as part of the series, but there are connections to the characters that enhance this book and brings some clarity to the plot. This is a very fast paced suspense that kept me up past my bedtime, but there is so much action that I was unable to stop reading. One more chapter, then another, until my eyes were burning and I had to give it up. I commend this author for her ability to keep a plot moving at such a pace that the action never slows down. I found myself holding my breath at times! Characters are deeply developed, lovable and unlikable. Personalities are varied and very diverse. Don't miss this great book. I look forward to Dana's Love Inspired Suspense books, and I'm already looking forward to the next in this series! Disclaimer: Thank you to Dana Mentink for gifting me with a copy of her book in exchange for my honest review. All expressed opinions are my own, and no compensation was received for this review.

Seaside Secrets was a truly action-packed story full of tense situations and uncertainty. The author did a great job of creating a scenario where it was impossible for the main characters, Angela and Dan, to know who they could trust. This book is the second book in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series. It was fun to see the main character from book one show up in book two, however, this book stands alone fine and the author does a good job of filling in a few details for anyone who did not read Dangerous Tidings. Seaside Secrets dealt with the issue of PTSD and I thought that it was handled well. It was interesting to see how Angela struggled with everything that was happening in the book while also dealing with PTSD. It even impacted the potential relationship between Angela and Dan. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more in this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“Seaside Secrets” is a definite must-read! This is the second book in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series by Dana Mentink. Angela Gallagher is determined to help Tank Guzman. He is the brother of Julio, the man who died saving her life as a Navy chaplain. She struggles with the guilt of Julio’s death every day. It’s a heavy burden and she’s having a hard time finding God once again in the midst of it all. While trying to help Tank and his family, she meets up with Dan Blackwater, who also served alongside of her as a doctor. He is determined to keep her safe both spiritually and physically even when there is danger lurking around every corner. Will they be able to help Tank and his family before it’s too late? Will Angela be able to restore her relationship with God once again? The author does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life; you will feel like you are right there with them helping them through even the toughest times. This is a fast paced book and once you start reading this book, you will not want to put it down!

From the very first paragraph this book gripped my attention; as someone who personally deals with PTSD, I identified with Angela Gallagher right away. I know the suddenness of how sounds, smells, and movements can cause the mind and body to react. When the forklift worker dropped the pallet causing Angela to plummet to the ground – I went with her. The mystery and suspense will definitely keep readers guessing, and turning the pages. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and at the same time giving glory to God. Then the message of His love and patience towards us, reminders of how He will not give up on us or leave us shines bright throughout this read. Navy Chaplin Angela Gallagher finds herself in California with plans to meet up the brother of a soldier who died saving her life. From the moment she steps foot on the wharf things get heated up. She not only has to search for the soldier’s brother, but there’s also a Beach-fest going on, making it even more difficult to location him. She ends up running into other “ghosts” of her past, but finds a bond with one that will change her life and help her in finding healing, forgiveness, and love. Bravo! Dana, thank you for caring enough to bring an awareness concerning PTSD through your book. Disclaimer: I was given this book in exchange for leaving an honest review, which I have provided.

I was drawn in from the very first page and I found that I really had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. This author takes her readers on a fast paced, thrilling and heart pounding journey. Great character development and a wonderful storyline can be expected and delivered by Dana. Angela and Dan are a great and courageous duo! Lila and Tank are two more characters that kept me on the edge of my seat and scratching my head! I really was kept in suspense until the very end of this well written book. A must read for suspense story fans. I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest opinion.

Dana Mentink's Seaside Secrets Explosions, Mayhem, Dark Secrets, Deceit, Murder…this is a power packed with emotion, a engaging plot plus many twists and turns!!! Angela Gallagher, a Chaplain who served in Afghanistan is on medical leave suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. She is contacted by the brother of her dead assistant. She owes the dead assistant her live as he died taking a bullet by stepping in front of her. The brother requests Angela to use her family's private detective company's resources to help him stay alive. So off she goes to help him. She runs into Dr Dan Blackwell who she knows from Afghanistan. Dan is on leave from the hospital where he works due to suffering from a hand wound. Dan also suffers from PTSD. They combine forces along with several members of her family’s detective company to go up against dangerous illegal activities. The characters are well developed, very realistic and very interesting. The tension was thick with plenty of suspense great chills, thrills with unexpected twists. It is a story showing how you need to learn to break free of the past and be willing to walk into the future. There is a powerful message of God's forgiveness and love if we turn to Him. Seaside Secrets is the second book in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes Series. The story is a real page turner!!!

This was a great suspense. There were several twists and turns that kept me guessing. I liked the author’s characterizations of Angela and Dan, both damaged by war and working through their own fears. They both learned that it isn’t always easy to do what God made you to do. I liked when Angela finally realized that she didn’t have to be strong by herself, that it was ok to ask for help. I would recommend this book. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

The author does it again in the second book of the Pacific Coast Private Eyes, she draws you into the story with the very first sentence! Navy Chaplin Angela Gallagher suffers from PTSD due to all she saw over in Afghanistan. When she travels to California to help the brother of the soldier who died protecting her, little does she know someone wants to stop her! Dan Blackwater, top-notch surgeon, on medical leave due to a hand injury also suffers from guilt thinking about all the lives he couldn’t save over in Afghanistan. When these two meet back up, can they uncover dark secrets before time runs out? There’s a lot going on in between the pages! Filled with so many shady characters, it kept me guessing as to who was telling the truth & who was lying. And what secret would the villain kill for? I loved getting to know Angela. She’s one of three daughters we met in “Dangerous Tidings”; and I wondered the same thing the other two sisters did….why did she come back from her last deployment haunted? You’ll find the answer in this story! Both her and Dan are wounded people, one visible and one invisible. As they race to find answers, they draw closer together sharing the devastation they saw overseas. Dan was Angela’s rock when emotions got too much for her to deal with. He reminds her that God is always there with a listening ear and He’s called her to minister to others. She just has to find that solid ground again! I’m reminded how God takes the broken pieces of our lives and makes something stronger and more beautiful than before through this story. This is full of faith, reconciliation, finding hope and love again, and of course, enough suspense and mystery to keep the reader on their toes! **I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review which I have provided here. Thank you Dana for another thrilling ride, I look forward to the next installment in this series!**

Dr. Dan Blackwell has his own problems dealing with the guilt over the lives he was unable to save in Afghanistan, including Julio's. Angela and Dan find themselves working together to help Julio's brother and trying to discover the secrets harbored by some of the residents of Cobalt Cove--secrets that could get someone killed. Dan vows to protect Angela, whether she wants his protection or not, and to help her solve the mystery. Will they piece the puzzle together before it's too late? Will they be able to restore their shaken faith and cultivate the feelings growing ever stronger between them? As usual, Dana Mentink offers her readers a fast-paced, well-written suspense with Seaside Secrets, the second novel in her Pacific Coast Private Eyes series. This is the second book in the Pacific Coast Private Eye Series, but it can be read as a standalone. This is another one from this author that takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of suspense and action. Once again, this author has combined wonderful characters with action, suspense, faith and romance and written a book that had me hooked from the first page and kept me reading to see what was going to happen next. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and it is one that I thoroughly enjoyed and definitely recommend to the reader who enjoys good Christian suspense.
