I love everything that Susan writes! This book is no different in how amazing it is. The in-depth characters and their intertwined complicated relationships make the story so much better. Then there is the town, which is a character on to itself. I love the Fool’s Gold series and now I am falling in love with Happy, Inc. This book gives you two happily-ever-afters and wonderful complex ways of achieving those goals!

He doesn't do relationships but finds himself wanting Carol. Carol' s sister Violet reconnects with Ulrich who she danced with when she was 14. He thinks she is scamming his Grandmother. He discovers his mistake and is leaving when he has accident and Violet helps him recover. Well written characters bring everything to life. ***The Fourth Mitchell Brother Falls: a Second Chance Girl for Mathias*** After his father revealed a family secret that completely destroyed Mathias Mitchell's reality, he and his brother, Ronan, left Fools Gold and moved their art studio to Happily Inc, California. On the outside, Mathias is an easy going playboy with a preference for bridesmaids "guarantee to be gone by morning". In reality, he is an exceptionally gifted artist who hides his artistic genius while struggling to recover his sense of self. Carol Lund is the atypical "girl next door". She's a gameskeeper who manages the Happily Inc Animal Preserve adjacent to Mathias' property. Carol knows she's nothing special. While she may be a friend and neighbor, in her mind, she's nothing compared to the glamorous bridesmaids Mathias hooks up with every weekend. What Carol doesn't realize is that although Mathias spends one evening with visiting bridesmaids, he spends nearly every morning watching and sketching Carol and Millie, the lone giraffe on the Animal Preserve. Carol and Millie are unwitting muses capable of reuniting Mathias' artistic passion and bringing love and trust to his heart. Second Chance Girl is the newest story in Susan Mallery's Fools Gold spinoff series, Happily, Inc. She introduced most of the main and many secondary characters in previous books. Sophie, Mathias' mother's pet beagle reappears and has a starring role in his story. Carol's sister Violet, stars in a secondary storyline where she meets her own Prince (actually Duke) Charming. I loved this book. I loved how Ms Mallery connected her previous Mitchell Brothers stories and further explained the underlying family dynamics. Second Chance Girl unites two people who never felt they were good enough, but in reality were actually better. Together they learned that love isn't about worthiness, but rather about the WILLINGNESS to be loved and to love in return.

I’m so loving the Mitchell Brothers! Even though, you want to wring Mathias’ neck, you got to love him for his kind heart and love for his family! I am happy that Carol gets her man even when she thinks she is not deserving to good things in life. How wrong is she! Waiting patiently for the next Mitchell brother, hehehe…

This is the second book of Susan Mallery’s newest series, Happily Inc, and a sequel to her long-running and much loved Fool’s Gold series. Mathias Mitchell has joined his brothers in the small town which is a wedding destination and moves into a house overlooking the local game reserve, which is situated on the grounds of the town’s landfill and recycling center. There, every morning, he watches as the gamekeeper (and his neighbor) goes about her duties caring for the lone giraffe, named Millie. How he gets involved in finding companions for Millie, and reawakening his artistry in glass-blowing, makes for a charming story that even non-animal lovers (if there are any out there) will enjoy again and again.

Happily Inc. is a wedding destination town where most people who live there have something to do with putting on a wedding. Caterer, baker, event coordinator, etc. Carol Lund is a gamekeeper and doesn’t have anything to do with weddings. Matthias, our hero, also doesn’t have a wedding themed job. The only thing he has to do with weddings is, well, the bridesmaids. He is a no strings attached kind of guy.. definitely not Carol’s usual, but for some reason she is attracted to him. Although that’s not a stretch, he is fabulous looking and very charming. Matthias is an artist, making glass creations alongside his brothers in a family business. He wakes up every morning, sips his coffee and sketches while watching Carol walk the preserve with her solitary giraffe, Millie. Something about this morning ritual appeals to him and inspires his creativity. Their relationship has never gone beyond friendship, until one nigh when they have a little too much to drink. Luckily, we didn’t see Matthias hit on too many bridesmaids because that would’ve been hard to overlook. The Matthias we meet is fun, charming, and too good looking, but he also has this inner pain about his father that humanizes him. As he and Carols friendship grows, I think that humanity also appeals to Carol. She on the other hand has always focused on her animals, to the exclusion of having a personal life. The fact that she was a khakis and t-shirt kind of gal made her so not Matthias’ type, but that one night changes how they see each other forever. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would from the synopsis. The zoo element was a really different setting for a romance! This series is a spinoff of Mallery’s Fools Gold seies that is so poular and I think it is just a good. There is a side romance between Carol’s sister and a visiting Duke that is really cute and made me laugh. All in all this was a great lighthearted romance.

A quirky town keeps bringing happily ever afters when people least expect it! With the second book in her Happily Inc series, Susan Mallery brings us another Mitchell brother romance along with lots of fun and laughs as wedding fever continues to reign! The main characters were a joy to watch get together ... I still feel like this series is a tad confusing with all of the characters thrown at you, but at least the core families are becoming familiar. Gamekeeper Carol Lund might fancy her neighbor Mathias Mitchell, but she knows she's just a plain Jane in comparison to the one-off bridesmaids he prefers, so she appeases herself with his friendship. When he steps up and finds a brilliant way to raise money to buy the herd her giraffe Millie desperately needs to keep her company, she just can't believe he'd go so far out of his way to help her. He really is a great guy, even if he doesn't want anyone to know it! Mathias grew up in a volatile family atmosphere, and it's only gotten torn apart more in recent years. He was never one to hold back on giving his love and affection, but there's only so much heartache a man can take before he has to protect himself ... and in his world, love hurts ... so he wants no part of it!

Each book in a Susan Mallery series just leaves me waiting for more. Mathias and Carol's story is no different. Both of them thinking that they are wrong for the other and finding they are perfect for each other. I really enjoyed the bonus of two for one love stories that this book offered. I can always count on Susan's books to bring a smile to my face, as well as occasional tears and laughs.

Carol runs the Happily, Inc. animal preserve and has never been what one would call a “girly-girl”. Her goal is to get Millie, her lone giraffe, a herd; and although people are helping to fill her canisters, it’s just going too slowly. Matthias Mitchell is the son of a world class glass artist. Matthias has the gift, but his father squashed his “heart” so he uses his talents in other ways. But life has really been a struggle for Matthias the last few years. He has “lost” his “twin” brother Ronan and although they are close in proximity, the bond they shared growing up is gone. Carol and Matthias are neighbors and friends. Carol wants to help Matthias deal with his family issues and Matthias wants to help Carol raise the money for Millie’s herd. They begin spending more time together and the sparks begin to smolder. One night, Carol and Matthias “almost” seal the deal, and then things become awkward. Can they regain the comfort they once shared?

Loved this book! It was even better than the first in the series. I enjoy the fact that there is humor, romance and just a hint of what will possibly come next in future books. Happily, Inc. is on its way to being as much fun as Fool's Gold. I love that there are connections to the other books and that Mayor Marsha still has her hand in the pie somewhere....even Edie and Gladys make an appearance. They still are a hoot. Mostly, I love that it is just a good fun story to read. Keep doing your thing, Susan. Thanks.

I love Happily Inc. and it’s complex residents. After meeting Mathias Mitchell in Fool’s Gold, it was great to get to know him better in Second Chance Girl. Mathias has his demons, and he must learn to trust in love. Carol Lund, with her quirky preserve of African grazing animals, needs to overcome her self doubt. Read this book to find out if they are able to help each other past these inhibitions. As a bonus, you will also be witness to the fiery romance between Carol’s sister, Violet, and Ulrich, the Duke if Somerbrooke.

I LOVED this book. I found myself laughing so much with this story. Mathias has his own set of issues from his dad and his "twin" to having to deal with crazy Sophie, when he has a bit to much to drink and invites Carol over for dinner he wakes up with even more stuff he needs to figure out. Carol has it bad for Mathias but she knows she is not his usual which is a one night party with the bridesmaid that come to Happily Inc. but as usual Mallery brings you around to a happily ever after that will have you laughing and crying. I highly recommend not only this book but this author as well.

Second Chance Girl is a success! Second Chance Girl is Mallery's Second Chance at launching her new series set in the town of Happily Inc. and it was a success! A classic best friends and neighbors story comes to life with all of Mallery's humor and a few twists and turns along the way. One of them being Sophie the dog with a personality who adds spunk to the story. For those missing Fool's Gold still have nothing to worry about with plenty of cameos in this story. Matthias and Carol weave their way through family situations, past concerns, working toward goals, to their own Happily Inc.

A light airy romance with a bit of humor and heartache. Especially thrilled to follow two characters to their HEA. Great read for those cold winter nights fast approaching.

Great read! Second book in the new series Happily Inc. Perfect time to snuggle with a blanket and read. You'll love Sophie the beagle and Millie the giraffe and her friends at the animal preserve. Love can be found when you least expect it! Carol and Violet are sisters, one had a crush on a Duke since her teenage trip England. The other has been heartbroken one two many times!! Very enjoyable :)

The second book in the Happily Inc. series and it just gets better and better! I loved the Mitchell brothers in the Fool's Gold series and now they are appearing in this one. The whole story with Millie the giraffe is just great! Makes me wish this town was real and I could go there myself!

Mathias is potential world recognised artist but after being undermined by his father his objective is skewed. Now he makes plates and bowls (they cost hundreds mind) but he could be producing pieces that make hundreds of thousands, not only does he doubt himself on an artistic level he also doubts himself on personal level. He doesn't believe he deserves to be loved. Happily Inc's, very own Gamekeeper knows she is not special, and definitely not special enough for Mathias love her. But that's okay because she has Millie to look after. A lovely book, I did think at first with the talk of Savannahs that it was based in Africa - my bad! I loved the idea of this little mad wedding town with it's escaping animals. Violet's side story was also a nice surprise, as so often these stories only have one storyline but there are several threads in this book. All ripe for the taking in the next book.

It was a good read- surprised that there were two storylines intertwined into one book as I feel that it could have been two different books. I like reading books to escape reality but it would be nice to have thought provoking situations where I could stop reading and think "what would I do in this situation"? Overall- I would recommend this book to friends, families and strangers, it is a feel good story that leaves you with a smile on your face.

Not sure about this Happily Inc story. I did not feel like Matthias & Carol had the right chemistry. I am also tired of the Mitchell bros not really cutting Ceallach and their Mom for that matter out of their lives. I also felt like the same scene almost with Nick and Pallas when Mathias pushes Carol away and then she practically takes the blame for not passing his test of her and fighting for him.......augggghhh so frustrating. Why did Ulrich and Violet not get their own story? I liked getting to know more about the town then the main characters. Sorry Ms Mallery....this one did not hit it out of the park for me.

I finished this book over a week ago, but have struggled to write this review. I usually LOVE Susan Mallery's books but Second Chance Girl was not in my top ten. The story was enjoyable but a little lackluster compared to previous books. Less believable chemistry between characters and too many simultaneous "stories" woven throughout made it somewhat disjointed to me. I loved Millie, the giraffe and Sophie, the beagle. The inclusion of their stories brought humor, laughter, goodness and understanding to the book. Ceallach was clearly presented as an antagonistic character, as we have seen from previous books. While necessary to the plot, the degree of anger and conflict he brought to the story detracted from my enjoyment of it. Overall this was an okay read but I look forward to the next installment of the series.

Omg! Absolutely loved it. I actually liked it better than the first book in the series. Brought me more into the world and I absolutely fell in love with the characters. It has become one of my favorites already.
