Shadowrun: Another Rainy Night by Patrick Goodman

Blood Runs Red

Every day in the Sixth World people die in a thousand different ways. Every day blood is spilled. Every place that rain falls, it washes away some of the red that stains the streets.

Eliminating every killer in the Sixth World is as impossible as drying up every raindrop in a storm, but Thomas McAllister doesn’t want to get rid of all of them. Just one. He’s been on this killer’s trail for a while, and he knows he’s getting closer. The only question is if he’ll be able to handle getting as close as he’s about to be, or if his blood will join the stream that regularly flows into the gutters of the sprawls.

Most of the Shadowrun shorts available on nook are great apetite starters or even good adventure hooks for someone starting a campaign or just wanting options for play. This one is one of the first not to take place in Seattle and gives a good feel for places outside that one city that almost all Shadowrun games involve. Taking place in the treaty city of Denver was fun as was the main character, a professor from Texas A&M&M playing at vampire hunter. The Knight Errant detective was also a fun new character to experience seeing as how most Shadowrun stories usually involve runners on the wrongside of the law. That said, it was a fun short that should have been longer and makes for a good adventure hook if you want more vamps in your Shadowrun game.

So old school. No matter how hard you try. You'll never get to end. Leaves the option for so much more.

Shadowrun has been one of my favorite worlds since I was a kid. If you are a fan of Jim Butchers Dresden Files you will find this right up your alley. Only 27 pages. Ending seems to open up for more/future stories. I will be searching for more from this author.
