"Pamela Clare has one of the strongest, boldest, most readable voices in romance. Her stories are riveting, well-told, and unforgettable. Oh, and deliciously sexy. A can't-miss read every time." -- Roxanne St. Claire, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

Victoria Woodley is done with men. Fresh off a dating nightmare, she flies from her home in Chicago to Scarlet Springs to take part in her best friend's wedding. Who picks her up at the airport? Eric Hawke. Of course. She made a fool of herself over him last time she was here. He's cocky, charming, and sexy as sin. But the fact that she's attracted to him is all the proof she needs that he's bad news. She would ignore him if she could. But he's the best man, and she's the maid of honor. She can't just tell him to jump in a lake--especially not when her lips are locked with his.

Eric isn't looking for a relationship. Between running the firehouse and volunteering for the county's search and rescue team, he has enough on his plate. He doesn't need to get tangled up with a woman from the big city, especially one whose idea of roughing it is going without designer coffee. Yet from the moment he looks into Victoria's big brown eyes, the attraction he feels is too strong to deny. Faster than he can imagine, the spark of desire that has smoldered between them since the first day they met will flare into full-blown passion.

But can Eric convince Victoria to set aside her doubts and trust him with her heart before their time together runs out?

Have now read the first two books in this series and there are no words to describe just how great they are!!! Have been an avid reader all my life and these are right at the top of my list. I cried and laughed and couldn' t read fast enough to see what happened. Also the description of the work of the firefighters and EMT's is over the top. Just bought the rest of the series. Keep writing your fabulous books Pamela Clare!!!!

What seemed like totally incompatible opposites, becomes true attraction and overwhelming love once these two step back and take a few deep breathes. I am so glad Victoria decided to come back to town and let Hawke into her heart. I loved the ending and how things changed so that they could be together among their friends and family.

You can NEVER go wrong with a book written by Ms Clare and this is no exception. The book is part of her series, Colorado High Country but rest assure, it’s a standalone. Her main characters, both male and female , are always strong, independent and have depth to them. This story is about Hawke, and Victoria, who were introduced in the first book of the series. As always, the author brings plausible scenarios to her stories. Life is full of surprises, some good and some not so good, and can affect a person so much , that their identity and self-confidence can be shattered. That is what Victoria/Vic has to face. Will Hawke help her and will she learn to trust? I promise you will enjoy the ride the storyline takes you. Thank you Ms Clare for another winner. I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Pamela Clare writes delightfully fun and exciting, and irresistibly hot contemporary romance that’s sure to entertain. Vacation is not a word Victoria Woodley uses often, except when her best friend is getting married and there is a week’s worth of activities to attend to. The only down side is that as the maid of honor she’ll most likely be spending a lot of time with the best man. The smug and sexy chief of the fire department, Eric Hawke. Something she’s dreading since her recent track record with men left her somewhat skittish. Can she trust herself to take a risk on the irresistible man? Eric Hawke’s busy schedule doesn’t have room for a relationship, especially not with an out of state woman whose idea of going outdoors is probably lounging in a patio. But from the moment he saw Victoria he can’t deny his attraction to her and the more time he spends time with her during his best friend’s week long pre-wedding activities, the more irresistible she becomes. Can he convince her to take a chance on them before their time is over? I met Eric and Vic at the end of Barely Breathing, the first book in this series and I loved how their instant like and loathe start of their relationship made me want to get to know them. As Austin and Lexi’s (the main characters from the previous book) wedding pushes the plot forward through lots of fun in the sun activities like hiking, wakeboarding and horseback riding, it also drives Eric and Vic to get to know one another and what started as a tentative and cordial friendship turns into a deep and burning connection. One might initially think Eric is an incorrigible womanizer especially since he practically advertises it! He’s actually a loyal friend, wonderfully caring son and brave and dedicated member of his community with a big heart underneath his flirty and cocky exterior. Victoria is perfect for him with all her sass, smarts and equally caring heart albeit a bit reticent due to the deception at the hands of a scheming man. But Eric helped her build back her confidence with tenderness. Unlike the previous book in this series, there’s no big drama but Pamela’s character hooked me none the less. I appreciated the wonderful scenery that was richly described and made me feel as though I was right there enjoying their expeditions with characters who’ve become friends (there were cameos from the I-Team series that made my day) as much as liked to accompany Eric on this fireman and rescue tasks and I of course loved getting to know both Victoria and Eric. Even though I thought Victoria and Eric’s relationship was going to be of the frenemies to lovers variety, it was mostly very fun, sweet, hot and very romantic. The entire book centered on them and their budding relationship and the end was very much hearts and flowers. Slow Burn is book #2 in the Colorado High Country series by Pamela Clare. It’s a standalone, contemporary romance full of fun and sexiness with a happy ending.

Victoria is in Scarlet Springs to be the maid of honor for her best friend Lexi's (from book 1) wedding. She is happy for a break from her high pressure job in public relations and is looking forward to becoming better acquainted the best man Eric. He is the local fire chief and is happy show Victoria around town. Their relationship develops nicely, but Victoria has a huge secret... How will Eric react when he learns it? I don't normally read romantic suspense, but Slow burn was the perfect combination of romance, action and story. I loved the development of the characters, the setting, and look forward to the next book in the series. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

Excellent, I loved Slow Burn!!! Slow Burn is the second book in Pamela Clare's Colorado High Country series. We met Eric & Vic in the first book, Barely Breathing. It's been about a year since the first book when they meet again. Sparks flew the first time and they do again. Vic has been through a trauma during the past year and is initially cautious with Eric. They seem perfect together and Eric shows her things she never thought she would do (or enjoy). Pamela Clare provides such beautiful descriptions of life in Colorado that it makes me want to move there myself. Her background on the area and the work and fun the guys have adds so much to the story. There are some sexy scenes but just the right amount, not too much or too little. Their happy ending put me in a good mood for the whole day. I want to go back and re-read it already!

5 - "Until you..." Stars! I fell in love with Pamela Clare’s writing after I read the first book in the Colorado High Country series, and Slow Burn lived up to the high standards of its predecessor Barely Breathing, in every way. Eric and Victoria’s story, sort of began towards the end of the first book, with them getting off on completely the wrong foot after Eric, basically puts both of his right in it, when picking up Victoria from the airport. Slow Burn apart from the prologue sets off roughly a year after their initial meeting, with Vic returning to town to take up Maid of Honor duties for her best friend Lexi’s wedding. Eric also happens to be the Best Man, so this is a couple that are expected to spend a considerable amount of time together over the week of planned wedding celebrations. She’d come to Scarlet hoping to get away from the past year. But somehow she’d bought it all with her. A lot has changed for Victoria over the intervening year, and taking a break from her life back in Chicago is what she needs. The chemistry between her and Eric, is an inconvenience that she initially tries to avoid, but it doesn’t take long for his caring actions, and her getting to know him better for her walls to start crumbling down. "You’re a good man." Loved this story, the romance was well paced, the sexy-times between Eric and Vic were hot and sometimes sweetly emotional, and the background stories for the rest of the Scarlet Townsfolk as well as the rest of the Search and Rescue volunteers that continue to play out and expand keep everything developing nicely. "Firemen are my favorite color." Another positive for me is the fact that there are so many secondary characters, and all of them seem to have stories that are waiting to be told, the author has scope to keep this series running for a long time to come, what with the locale, the people and the town in general, Scarlet is somewhere that I look forward visiting more and hopefully regularly in the future. "This is the closest I’ve come to paradise." Two books read, two five star reviews written, Pamela Clare is an author that I have no qualms about reading anything and everything by in the future. ARC generously provided via Netgalley, in exchange for the above honest review.

Part two of Pamela Clare's new series taking place in Scarlett Springs, picks up right where "Barely Breathing" ends. Excellent story with real life situations , relationships and family drama. I am so excited to see other characters from her " I- Team " series making "cameo" appearances. If you have not tried this new series, you are really missing out.

I will buy anything Pamela Clare writes... she has proven over and over that she can write in many genres and suck me right in.... Her characters will seem like your friends, the town they live in, you will want to move to.... Her first in this series, Barely Breathing was amazing and I couldn't wait for the second in the series to be released. I was not disappointed. I laughed and cried, I smiled til my cheeks hurt. I didn't want the story to end. I don't know how many she has planned in this series but I can not wait for the next one!!! Clear a day, or a night grab some tissues (good cry.. hey there is a wedding here!) and settle your self in for a wonderful read.

Pamela Clare has mastered another genre. I enjoyed reading Barely Breathing and looked forward to visiting Scarlet Springs again with Slow Burn, Pamela Clare didn't let me down. Wonderfully written & heartfelt, her words express how proud she is of Colorado, I felt like I was there. I am very lucky to be a part of her readers group and look forward to the next book in the series.
