I have 3 children: ages 3, 7, and 9 and I'm the kind of mom who reads to them on most nights. I got this book 9 years ago when my eldest was an infant. This is far and away our favorite book for bedtime and it is well worn.

To the reviewer that said this is a dissappointment I feel sorry for his/her child. What are you reading at bedtime, 'Catcher in the Rye'? She/he is 2. There is no need to prime them for college just yet. Let them enjoy (as well as yourself) some of the great things about childhood and not worry about the serious stuff yet. You need to put down the psycho - babble child raising book and lighten up. And, in case you are wondering, I do read to my kids (all 4 of them) every night. We generally read this as the 'finale' to the other stories they pick out, but there are nights that a quick book is all we have time for. That is when this one is perfect since each them can pick their own story and it doesn't take me an hour to read.

My 15mth old loves this book! This is always our last book we read before bedtime. Once we sing Zoodle lullaby he knows its time for bed and doesn't resist. Our whole family has memorized all of the words. He also will sit in his room and 'read' it by himself. We love all of Sandra Boynton's books, but this is the best!

The board book is funny and hysterical; great for bedtime reading, especially for toddlers who are resisting going to bed and learning a sense of irony. They get prompted to read parts of the book (i.e. words printed in red "But I'm not tired"), giving them a chance to participate in the reading. My son got this book a few years ago as a gift and it was such a hit I went online and found another version of the book that includes a music CD that plays all the songs in this book plus more, but the pages in that book are not board and can tear, so beware. Great for play and bedtime. I bought several copies of the version with CD and gave them out for birthday presents. I ordered this copy for a friend in England who has a toddler and newborn.

My son picks this book whenever we need short stories at bedtime - like when we are short on time. He now knows the difference between short books and long books. He loves the silly songs (we always sing the snoozers one) and does all the 'now you say' parts and the noises on the snoring story. It's also great for little ones beginning to memorize all their stories - my son loves to read these to us.

It should be obvious from the title that these are 'Short Short Stories' -- but sometimes that's exactly what a tired toddler needs, just a few quick verses before she falls asleep in your lap. Feeling more active? Read more stories! The flexibility of being able to pick more or less little ditties means it's great for whatever mood the little princess is in. And Boynton's cute characters and stories are very enjoyable for small readers -- my daughter will pick it up and 'read' it herself even when it's not bedtime. Definitely a great addition to any two-year-old's bookshelf!

Both of my children 2 and 1 love this book. They take turns picking what story to read next. It is a huge hit. Bedtime FAVORITE!!!! A MUST HAVE! WONDERFUL GIFT TOO! It is a hit with all my friends kids too. I am not kidding...Get it now! You will not regret it!

We love this book. I have a two year old who has memorized it and my 5 month old likes its rythmic read. My son went to the zoo a few weeks ago and tried calling out the sleepy animal sounds to the animals - chee chee tah!!!! Oh, and, my husband has it memorized too.... Great Buy! Very fun.

My daughter is almost two-years-old and this book caught her imagination a few months ago. Although it is really seven verses, even saying short twice doesn't make them stories. Each 'story' is too short to consider reading just one story at a sitting. But who would want to? This book is fun, there are clever verses about cute characters. There's even a silly bedtime song and the illustrations are...well...they are Boynton. Need I say more?

We read this EVERY night now before bedtime...and to tell the truth, I love it just as much as my little ones. A definite keeper. Also recommend The Gravel Drive thegraveldrive.com for parents - you will never look at your kids the same way again after reading it!

My 7 month old son just loves this book! We *both* love all of the short stories. (My personal favorite is Little Bear). Highly recommend this. Makes a great gift.

I've read this to my son since he was 3 months old. He thinks each of the stories are funny. We like it because from one book, we can pick 2-3 stories to read before bed that are very short and cute. Each one is about going to sleep and have funny little rhymes.

I love this book! it is so much fun to read. And it was the first book my daughter was able to "read". The rhymes are fun and the last song always has them giggling...and ready to sleep! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I buy this for all the new babies I know!

Snoozers is a book about falling asleep. This book has seven very short bedtime stories for lively little kids. It describes several animals who are very sleepy until it's time to take a nap. They don't like taking naps, so they fight it until they can no longer stay awake.I think this would be a good book to read to young children in the classroom right before nap time. Not only would reading help them relax, but reading a book about being sleepy might help them to unwind enough to fall asleep. It has lines that the listener reads in order to let them participate in the story and keep their attention. To tie this book into the classroom routine, I would have the children lay down in the nap center, and pretend to be the sleepy sheep who could no longer stay awake. I would play a night time lullaby for them after I finished reading the book until everyone fell asleep.

This is a 16 page board book with seven stories in it. Two of the pages are the table of contents. The stories are, of course, short. In fact, they are "short short", as advertized! If your kid has moved past board books and is now well into the world of long books like Green Eggs and Ham or, dare I say it, War and Peace, this one might be a little *too* short short for him or her.If your kid is in the target age for these books, baby or toddler, then it should be just long enough to hold his or her attention until beddybye. The stories are typically funny, in Boynton's style. We especially like "I'm Not Tired" around here, and the silly lullaby at the end!

This is a creative approach to bedtime board books, with seven short rhyming stories with cute animal pictures. The board pages are tabbed, so children who don't read yet can point to the one they want to hear, or can turn the pages to their favourite. The stories are funny, particularly for the parents, and the silly lullaby at the end was a huge hit with our three kids. These are good for toddlers and preschoolers. "Snoozers" and "Silly Lullaby" have been recorded as songs in Boynton's 2002 "Philadelphia Chickens" book and CD set.

I bought this book as gifts for my sister's two sets of grandchildren. Their parents were as excited as the children because Sandra Boynton is one of their favorite authors. Both sets of parents said the kids love hearing the stories at bedtime. Funny stories just short enough for infants and toddlers along with humorous pictures make this book a winner.
