Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The text is really simple with most declaratory and very short sentences. "‘Snowflake,' said Jake. Snowball, said Paul."' The story builds as the ants with warm hats on their heads decide to take a ride on a very large sled. They all pile on and off they go. Then what a mess at the bottom of the hill. Is anyone discouraged? No they are not, so it looks like it is up the hill and then down again. A pre-level 1book in the "Ready-To-Read" series which helps children by using word repetition, familiar words and phrases, and simple sentences. The story is amusing, which is much to the credit of Holub who has created it using little more than fifty words, many of which are repeated; the equally amusing illustrations by Terry carry it right along.
