Some Thing
A tongue-in-cheek tale about a man who drank the water, another man and his Bazooka, and a lady with a loaded gun. Brought together in a showdown between paranoia and reality, three once-ordinary lives will never be the same. "Some Thing" is based on an actual environmental hazard along the Mexican Border and the potential for disaster. Darkly offbeat and comical, this eco-thriller of a horror fable -- by the author of An Ill Wind Blows, Dance Of The Chupacabras, and The Macabre Mind Of Lori R. Lopez -- takes that warning not to drink the water to extremes and exposes a very real scenario: toxic dumping along the international U.S. and Mexico Border. These things have a way of bouncing back with a vengeance, which is the case for one unfortunate fellow who forgets to heed the warning. But perhaps it was already too late. Something's happening and it isn't pretty. It isn't friendly. It's . . . SOME THING!!!

About the Author

Growing up in Wisconsin, the Mexico and U.S. Border was as foreign to Lori R. Lopez as a crater on the Moon, but living in the San Diego region of Southern California for decades has made the Border between these nations seem a lot more familiar. She has even crossed it quite a few times. Unsurprisingly, it is possible that she sipped some of the water once upon a time. Which might explain a lot, really. Nonetheless, in her writings she has now and again spotlighted this once-foreign culture. It has even become part of her family. In “Some Thing” she explores the consequences of the Water Warning. Is it mere stereotype or is there wisdom behind it? Of course, as often occurs, Lori’s imagination ran wild (if not amok) and wouldn’t crawl back into its Steel Drum, Puzzle Box, pop-top container . . . which, when opened, tends to spew snakes and all sorts of assorted oddness. Just try walking around with a head full of curiouser and curiouser curiosities, not to mention a bunch of stranger and stranger things! Fortunately for Lori, she is able to ignore some of the pandemonium within her noggin the way she ignores the ringing of her ears. This is the reason she never answers the phone. So if you call, do not expect her to respond. She will usually reply to Singing Telegrams. Or Red Alerts. Or calls from the President. Unless the President is dishonest and likes to rant about Border Walls. Then she will ignore those calls like all the rest.
