About the Author

Lynnette Austin loves Starbucks, peppermint patties, and long rides with the top down and the music cranked up! One of the great things about writing is that daydreaming is not only permissible but encouraged. She grew up in Pennsylvania, moved to New York, then to Wyoming, and presently divides her time between Florida's beaches and Georgia's mountains. She's been a finalist in RWA's Golden Heart Contest, PASIC's Book of Your Heart Contest, and Georgia Romance Writers' Maggie Contest. Having grown up in a small town, that's where her heart takes her-to those quirky small towns where everybody knows everybody...and all their business, for better or worse.

What People are Saying About This

Joyce Henderson

She's lace and champagne flutes, he's blue jeans and cowboy boots; neither one is looking for love. But when cupid takes dead aim, they can't fight the mutual attraction. Don't miss the heat that singes these two opposites and burns bright in Maverick Junction, Texas.

Oh lordy. If you've ever liked a cowboy, wanted to like a cowboy, or even if you hate cowboys, you will love this book. I was drawn in one page one and already swooning on page two. No joke. I also completely blame Lynnette Austin for the 35 new "Hot Cowboy" Pinterest boards I started following after reading this book. I'll be honest, I don't always like romance novels. Why? Because so many of them are cheesy or unbelievable. Lynnette has this realistic, descriptive, and imaginative way of writing where you soak up all the details without even realizing it. And then before you know it, you forget you're reading altogether and instead, you're watching it play out in your head. Plus, I will guiltily admit that I love the fact that the main character Annelise is headstrong and independent. And she drive's a motorcycle. I'm all about independent women, and Annelise is all that and more. I really liked this book. Read it. You wont regret it.

A really nice read. It did get a little long-winded occassionally with the main characters thoughts but overall kept me interested. The secondary characters were really interesting without overpowering the main characters. This story really rated a 4 1/2 stars.

I really love a good cowboy story and Somebody Like You is a great cowboy story. Some say that oil and water do not mix but in this case, it does. When Annelise goes looking for a long-long relative for a possible bone marrow match for her sick grandfather, she lands in Maverick Junction. Annelise gets an apartment and even goes to work as a ranch hand. Sounds great but for a society girl, this is totally out of the norm. Annelise is in hiding of sorts as she does not want anyone to know about her money, she wants everyone to know her for her. Cash is a real cowbody. Polite, honest, and hardworking, he hires Annelise not knowing much about her except she is pretty and rides a Harley. Cash and Annelise do mix well, more so than Cash would like. Both have secrets that they do not want each other to know but hard not to tell. As the secrets begin to unravel, can Cash and Annelise (his Annie), continue to blend. Great story! Nearest Thing to Heaven sounds like it will be great also.

Annelise knew there was something she could do to help her failing grandfather's health. She would just have to figure it out. What she didn't expect, but was coming to joy, was learning to be on her own. Cash hired Annie because he wanted to get to know her, and they needed the help. He had no idea she would work so hard. He had no idea who she really was. When the secrets of their pasts rise to the surface, will there be anything left to salvage? Gotta tell you, this book is a seriously slow burn. Hotter in part than a Texas sunset, and just as potent. I appreciated the way the author let us taste this story without overdoing it on the flavors, however. I can honestly say I cannot wait to sample the next book in the Maverick Junction series! ***This copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

A good start to a new series. I was a First Read Winner of this book, and since I am a bit partial to Cowboys, I was really looking forward to get started on it. I liked the characters and the storyline, there was plenty of ups and down and some steamy romance though I have to say toward the end I was a bit frustrated, because Cash and Annie acted really silly when both are smart enough to have figured out right away who was behind the problem that popped up. But overall it was a great escape and I read way passed my bedtime on a couple of occasions. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and Lynnette Austin has found a new fan in me.

Another keeper has just been added to my e-reader favorites category. Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I have a fetish for small town living. The close knit communities, the busybodies and the friendly atmosphere always draw me to these types of stories. Somebody Like You had all the draws I look for in a story and changed up the dynamic a bit when an undercover celebrity stops in for a spell. Annelise has a life many would dream of. Her wealth has opened many doors for her but has put a limit on her need for a life outside of the spotlight. She longs for freedom outside of her fast paced life, he wants a chance at lasting happiness without stipulations. Annelise and Cash both want the same thing: "The chance to be happy. How much will they risk to make that dream into reality? A winning combination.

I'm always a sucker for a cowboy romance and it was so easy to sit up all night reading this fabulous story. It sure didn't seem like 400 pages the way I tore through that story. I loved that Annelise was not an entitled heiress and was very comfortable on her Harley and in her own skin. Even though she had had chores taken care of for her all her life, she didn't hesitate to jump right in and try to figure out things the rest of us take for granted. I've got to admit, I did lol a time or two especially when it came to figuring out how to work a microwave. When she runs into Cash, the sexiest cowboy she'd ever met, I knew sparks were gonna fly. At first, I was concerned that there were too many storylines going on for one book but they melded together very nicely. I love, love, loved the small town atmosphere and Austin pegged the feel right on the nose from the cafes to the characters running them. I'll definitely be checking out this author for more of her books.

Title: Somebody Like You Author: Lynnette Austin Published: Forever Yours Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Series: Maverick Junction #1 Rating: 5 Review: "Somebody Like You" by Lynnette Austin was a beautifully told story of "When a Cowboy Meets an Heiress." This was the first of this series 'Maverick Junction' for this author. If you like cowboy reads that offers you it all in a small town then this one will not be a disappointment to you because this novel really draws you into the story starting at page one. This author presents a beautiful romance story that is so very believable and realistic. I really loved the author descriptions all the way through this story making it seem you are right there in it being so 'vivid and so insightful.' The characters Annelise Montjoy and Cash Hardeman along with some others are all so well developed, captivating and intriguing in this well written story. I don't want to give anything away other than to say you must pick up "Somebody Like You" because it is truly a wonderful romance novel of two people finding each other in this fantastic read. The only thing that is left to say is after reading this enjoyable novel you will be ready for the next series...'Nearest Thing To Heaven.'

I am about to indulge into the next book. Similar characteristics of Nicholas Sparks writings which I sincerely enjoy. This was a no put down book until finished. I thoroughly was surprised at the outcome of my quick pick and would suggest the read.

Annelise Montjoy is on a single-minded quest to save a life. She needs to hide her true identity if she hopes to succeed. What she doesn't expect is to fall head over heels for a Texas cowboy in the form of Cash Hardeman, owner of Whispering Pines Ranch. In order to accomplish her task, and at the same time learn a whole lot about herself, she can't be honest with Cash. He's got his own secret in the form of his late grandfather's will and trying to cope with the grasping Las Vegas showgirl who got her hooks in the old man shortly before he died. Cash and Annie come from two different worlds. They both have responsibilities and people who depend on them. This story will keep you on edge. You'll want to reach through the pages and shake some sense into these lovable, exasperating characters. I'm ready for the next Whispering Pines adventure.

I was hooked from the first chapter and the momentum never ebbed! Annie and Cash - wow, so real with chemistry that does knock your boots off! The descriptions of Texas, the characters and the interplay of relationships were right on to the point that a marathon read is all you can do as you embrace these real people and their lives! Can't wait for the next two in the series!
