He wants to tie me up, but I don't know his face.
He turns me on, but I couldn't point him out in a crowd.

I've fallen for an anonymous stranger, and now the anonymity ends. I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.
Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn't a stranger at all.

Lizzy Thompson met Riverrat69 online through Something Real, a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they've reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.

Now they're breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She's picked up hints and followed clues. She's ninety-percent convinced she's discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.

She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.

When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Includes the free prequel and it's a pretty good read but incomplete, you have to buy another book to finish the story.

This is so bad, had no depth. These are chapters of books not books. Quit selling ebooks that aren't even finished.

Loved this book but poor Sam and Liz can't catch a break!  I couldn't wait to get started on the follow up to find out what happens with this love story.  There is so much intrigue and steam between these two!!!  Love it!

4 stars Lexi Ryan has the ability to write a story that will have you reading until the very last page then wondering why there is not more.  I swear I need more of Liz and Sam.  This does end in a cliffy so be ready for book 2.  It will be out March 3.  Liz has been in love with her best friend’s brother for years.  But after his reject, she has watched from a far.  Until his sister asked for help in learning what is wrong with Sam.  Liz being the friend that she is, is only too happy to get close to Sam to try to figure out his secret.  But what is this going to cost Liz?  Another reject?  A broken heart possible?   Sam having been burned before plays by his owns rules when it comes to women.  There are no strings attached unless he is the one that is tying them to you.  So when Liz tries to get close to him, he knows he will give in to 1 night with her.  He has thought about her but never acted on it.  But now that they are older.  If she can handle his rules then let’s play. As Liz and Sam venture on this road of no strings attached, it is hard to tell your heart to not feel when it wants too.  But when secrets, lies and deceit are all played, there is no where to go but run and not look back.  But is Sam willing to allow Liz to leave?  Can Liz survive a shattered heart this time?

Whoa. I did not see that ending coming...and gosh darn it, the next book doesn't come out until March? Sigh... It's the characters that kept me turning the pages of Something Reckless. I loved both Liz and Sam, and was just dying for them to get (back) together. When they made questionable choices, it was all I could do not to shout, "No! Don't do that!" at my ereader. (Okay, I might have said it once or twice. Maybe.) When I thought they were jumping to erroneous conclusions, I tried to warn them, but they didn't listen. There were major twists here that I didn't see coming, and Lexi Ryan had me really caring about what was going to come next for both of them the entire time.  And then I got to the end, and...GAH! Saying anything more would constitute major spoilers, so I'm going to leave it there. Something Reckless is the second in the series, but the first full-length novel. The prequel novella Something Wild was free last I checked, but is also supposed to be included in the novel--it's a short read, and tells you some things you need to know to get the most out of this one. It's set in New Hope, so if you've read her New Hope series, or the Here and Now one, you'll see some characters you recognize. If you haven't, though, it's not a big deal for this one (though you might be tempted to increase the size of your TBR with them while you're waiting for the next book in this series to come out. I'm just saying.) Hurry up, March! What do you mean it's only the beginning of February? Rating: 4 stars / B+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Every time I pick up a Lexi Ryan book I know I'm in for a roller coaster ride of heartache. But like an addict, I crave her words, and am completely intoxicated by the plethora of emotions that sweep through me with each flip of the page. I almost squealed when I realized that Lizzy finally got her own story. I have loved, and at times despised, her while reading other character's books, so when Ryan gave her the lead I was thrilled to get to know her even better. Something Wild (The free prequel novella) set up Sam and Liz's story so perfectly, and I was so excited to continue their journey to love. If this novella was anything to go by, it was going to be one HOTTT, sexy adventure with more than enough turmoil and anguish, but I fell in love with them both, and I wanted nothing more than to see them together. This book gave me everything it promised and so much more. These two people, each a little broken with their fair share of skeletons in the closet, seemed the perfect fit, only they couldn't see it, or just refused to. To watch them get over each and every obstacle only solidified their place in my heart, and I was their cheerleader the entire way through. But, aside from Sam and Liz's whirlwind love story, this book added the mystery of Riverrat69. Who was he? Was it Sam, as Liz only hoped and wished. I was on the edge of my seat the more involved Liz got and, the closer she got to meeting her online lover, the more intriguing this story became. When the final bomb landed, shrapnel lodged in my heart from the massive explosion, and I am still trying to recover from that particular attack. It was awe-inspiring and brilliant, and I NEED more.
ValerieStuckInBooks More than 1 year ago
Let me start by clarifying that the prequel novella Something Wild is included at the beginning of this book. I was confused at first because the promised texting between Lizzy and riverrat69 doesn't happen. Then the novella ended and this book started. And the texting began. I went back to check after I started this one to make sure it was contemporary romance because it sure read like erotic. I'm not a fan of erotic. I need more of a story than the sex. I need more than a page or two between either having sex, talking about sex or thinking about sex. Such is not the case in this book. Lots of thinking, talking and doing in this one. I didn't really care for Lizzy. I don't get her really. She's fallen for Sam but when he turns her down because she's a seventeen virgin, she jumps into the arms of another college guy THAT night. I guess it could be a seventeen year-old issue but later she makes equally stupid decisions. There's too much that seems like cheating to me in this book. I just can't deal with that. Sam doesn't make sense to me either. He's a player with a problem. But he wants the problem to stay. Then it doesn't and he hates them for it. I get the hating thing but I don't understand why the player boy would want this problem to stick around. Yes, I know I'm being vague. *shrugs* Trying not to spoil it for ya. The whole mystery of who she's texting was just disgusting to me. I never thought it was Sam. And when I found out who it was, I was even more unhappy with the whole feel of this book. No thank you. No more. I will not read the next one. I think this book just wasn't for me.

Lexi Ryan leaves us once again stunned and utterly speechless.  Just when you think you have it all figured out she slaps you over the head and you are literally stunned. I fell in love with Lizzy a long time ago.  She just seems destined to never find the kind of love her sisters have no matter how much she tries.  Drunken one night stands are getting kind of old and the one man that she wants more from will not give it to her so she decides to throw her hat into the online dating scene.  New Hope is a fairly small town so how many people could truly be using the towns online dating site?  Lizzy has been enjoying some scorching hot dirty talk via Something Real with riverrat69, one of the sites many investors.  She has exchanged some racy photos with him and now he wants to meet.  She is almost positive she knows who he is and is excited to meet the man who can turn her on with only his words.  What happens when finds out the true identity of riverrat69 and he is not either man she thinks he is.  Her reckless online behavior could cost her dearly in real life. I wanted to scream and throw my kindle at the end of this book.  I was like “No Friggen Way!!!”  Lexi threw me for a serious loop and I loved every second of it.  She had built up so much angst in this story that I skipped the last few chapters and went straight to the end because I could not take it anymore.  I never ever skip to the end but she had me so tied up in knots that I just had to know who the heck Lizzy was talking to.  OMFG!! I never saw what was coming.  The question is now that we know riverrat69’s true identity how does this story shake out.  I can’t wait for Something Real to see the path to Lizzy’s Happily Ever After.  I am sure it is going full of twists and turns that will have our jaw dropping just like it did in this book.  Lexi is the queen of cliff hangers that have you slack-jawed and at a loss for words.  I know that I will be throughly entertained when I pick up one of her reads.  Thank goodness this one is only a two-part read and part two will be here in March, hopefully sooner if I can twist her arm along with her other Midnight Readers.

You know that author you love but always tangles you up in knots and spits you out with every book, do you have one of those? I do. Lexi Ryan does that to me. She's my crack. My meth addiction. She's my heroin. I need her and she effs me up everytime I read one of her books. God I love her... can I have her book babies? This is a dysfunctional relationship. I understand that, but I don't want it to be right. My favorite Thompson sister finally has her story and here, I find out she is super freaky! Lizzy is a naughty slut for the right man and her right man happens to be a man who has a few loose ends. Not to fear though because he enjoys tying his partners up, so he knows what to do when he's at the end of his rope. Sam Bradshaw is Lizzy's ONE, she has loved and wanted him since she had the first stirrings of loves and wants and Sam was not immune but felt that he had to wait for Lizzy to mature to an age where she could handle the games he has a taste for. In an unfortunate string of events beginning with Lizzy throwing herself at Sam during a college party and him catching her rather than taking advantage of her, she decided to spite her love and let his roommate be the rebound; this domino event is about to come to head in a poopstorm of badness that only Lexi Ryan could write to scar us all in emotional turmoil that will require therapy and pharmaceuticals. Some authors just have a gift for writing erotica and it has nothing at all to do with the smexy push-push in the bush bush or tush tush. What really makes erotica work is the friction and the power between the two characters; it's more than chemistry. Chemistry is what makes for romance a Romance novel. What makes a GREAT Erotic Romance is a thick sense of anticipation, an amazing gift with descriptive vocabulary, being able to measure what your reader needs and what they will want, and REAL plot. I'm not talking about pRon Erotica here. I'm talking about the stuff you read when you want to feel like no man in the real world is worth your time and your B.O.B. has been neglected for far, far too long. Lexi Ryan is an amazing story writer and she has the ability to write fantastic erotica, what's more is she writes amazekittens suspense as well. She is my opium. My name is Ali, I am an addict and I want you to buy her books. Please. Buy them... she is the best high you can get for under 5 bucks this side of Bangkok. Yeah, I totally said bang and cock... I'm a ten year old. My humor is appreciated in fifth grades across the nation. Well... STOP THE PRESS! Actually I should mention the end of the book that gave me the same bodily response as hearing there I was entering a rehab clinic... I read the last few pages got to the cliffhanger, which I had not seen coming and if you say you did you are a freaking, effing, firetrucking liar, supreme, with fries! I Read it and got the weird feeling in my stomach like I had got bad news. It was that sour feeling you get when you feel you have been kicked in the stomach after an adrenaline rush. Thanks, Lexi. I needed that sort of emotional head-coitus from an imaginary book impregnator. I love it and I'm coming back for more because I love it when you do me wrong and treat me like your plaything with your constant maybe--maybe not storytelling. It's strange how we allow authors to do things to us that we would trophy hunt lovers for doing. Note: I stuck by my threat from Fall To You--I did not send you a Christmas card, Ms. Lexi Ryan. You were not on my Christmas list for that stuff in that book... bad girl. Bad, bad girl. More meth please. Book babies, you and me. They would be beautiful, little, many paged children with glossy covers and naughty minds.

Liz and Sam seem only to connect once a year and just in passing. They both have feelings for each other. He is scared to death of commitment; she is scared he will definitely break her heart. Out of loneliness, Liz joins an online "get acquainted" site. It is different from the other sites - no pictures are allowed, people are supposed to write to each other and get to know one another online and they must hit a certain benchmark before agreeing to meet. This new site is being tested in New Hope where Liz lives, so she figures anyone on the site is probably someone she knows and is using an online nickname. Well online friendships can lead an unsuspecting soul to trouble. Not the serial killer type, but the type where you might really know the person, but they are not what they seem online. A love affair started in this manner is bound to lead to trouble. Liz has made her share of mistakes... and she does not seem to stop making them. There are secrets, hidden agendas, stress and pressure from parents, and finally when we think Sam and Liz are going to get together... but wait! You really need to read this. I was blown away! These girls from New Hope surely know how to get in trouble. If you are a fan of Lexi Ryan's books, you they are well written, and she always has these masterful plot twists you never saw coming. Well, hold on to your sanity... she has done it again. I actually went back through the clues she gives and yes I could not find fault with any of them. Still, at the end, I found myself saying " I never saw that coming!" Mark your calendars! Beginning of March 2015 is when the conclusion to this story is slated for publishing. I will continue to twiddle my thumbs patiently until then... in DESPERATION! I cannot figure out how she is ever going to reach a happily ever after with all that is going on!

Start out with “Something Wild”, the Prequel. HO LEE CRAP! Seriously, this book is H-O-T! We meet Liz and Sam right from the start and are introduced to how they met and what happened on their first meeting. Then we really find out about Liz and Sam and their pasts. Liz is a beautiful young girl who seems so innocent when she really isn't so. It’s almost like she wants to shake things up a little and discover her inner slut lol. Confidant and sexy without being conceited and arrogant. I do not like the relationship she has with Connor.  I guess in all books there has to be “that” factor. It’s a strange relationship and you learn more about it as the story goes on but to me it’s not right. She should have more respect for someone she considers a friend. The lines are blurred and and it’s not right. I also didn't understand why she was using a dating site to get a man….it is explained in the book but still seemed off. Sam is smokin hot and I mean hot. He had my panties in a bunch right from the start. The author has an amazing way with this character and his personality and how he comes through the pages and into your lap *ok maybe through the pages and the lap part is my wishful thinking*. He is a bad boy with a past but deep at heart maybe not so bad. You’ll see what I mean when you read it. What a great little story line. Riverrat69 is also hot, in the same way that Sam is…yeah you got it….is it him? Maybe, maybe not…read it and find out ;) I like the way the story jumps from present to past to answer questions as they come up. There is no confusion or over compensation, it’s really well done. It’s not just your typical sexy love story, there’s some drama there and there’s that point where you just stop……stop reading and put your had on your forehead and say OMG, over and over. I couldn't get through this part fast enough. I HAD to find out if it was true. The ending – yeah it’s kind of a cliffhanger…who the hell am I kidding..HOLY CRAP!!!! omg omg omg *again the hand on the head*…. I need the next book NOW! I can not wait until march to see what happens. I have a feeling someone is gonna get a butt kickin and it’s gonna be hot.

Review of Something Reckless by Lexi Ryan Holy Schnitzel - 5++ stars What can I say that would even convey my feelings about this book? It was abso-fu**ing-lutely AMAZING, scary delicious and PAINFULLY sad all at the same time. At the end of Something Wild, I was left wondering what happened in those 2 years we missed and the last couple of pages of that book, but now I understand the timeline and how it ties in with Hanna's story. The story of Sam and Liz is so compelling, with all the hurt, misunderstandings and LOVE between the two of them. I had a feeling that River was NOT going to be who she thought it was, but then she meets Sam at the cabin and I changed my mind. Then the next morning came and I knew I was wrong again. I was afraid of who I thought it was, but Liz went another direction. Then, I learned all those things about Sam and I was flabergasted. It just goes to show you how selfish some people can be and how that affects others around them. How one mistake can ripple for many years. I don't want to give any true spoilers, but you really need to read this book. Yes, it ends on a major cliffhanger and the final book doesn't come out until March of 2015, but it is soooooo worth it. Is it even possible for these two to get past all of this and make it to the other side, with love intact? Lexi knows how to throw curve balls at you during the telling of their story that makes you wonder if you need to be wearing armor while you are reading. That's how much the story draws you in. I will be chomping at the bit, waiting for Something Real to come out, to find out what happens. You really DON'T want to miss this series. **Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review.**

I was lucky to have received an advance copy of Something Reckless, so once I got done with Something Wild, I was able to launch right into the nitty gritty of the story. I'm not sure how well I would've handled having to wait any longer for another dose of Lizzy and Sam. And, if I'm being perfectly honest, I'm freaking out at the thought of waiting two months to get the conclusion with Something Real.  I loved Lizzy and Sam in Something Wild. They were exploring their connection and things were super spicy hot. In Something Reckless, things are a mess between them. There were misunderstandings, mistakes and miscommunications. They barely speak to each other and whatever I hoped they were building in Something Wild was over. Lizzy was carrying on a flirtatious, hot and somewhat dirty relationship with a total stranger via an online dating service. As time goes on and Sam reenters her life, she wants desperately for her chat buddy to be him, but only time will tell.  There's all kinds of drama in this book. Between Lizzy and Sam's second chance, so to speak, Sam's drama with his family... and the woman who is blackmailing him, there's a lot going on. The story could've easily gotten bogged down in all of that, but it didn't. If anything, these other relationships and situations just added more dimension to the story. Of course, I'm really only here for the chemistry between Lizzy and Sam, but I enjoyed all of the other goings on all the same. There's also a healthy dose of *seriously* hot sexy times. Sam is a dirty talker and Lizzy is his perfect match. I *LOVE* them together. They are smokin' hot. If you've ever read one of Lexi's series, you know she has a tendency to leave readers with massive cliffhangers and a serious book hangover. Something Reckless is absolutely no exception to this. There were twists and turns and a big ol' reveal at the end (which I guessed, but nonetheless, I need to know what's going to happen next) and when I hit the end of the book, I kept trying to turn the pages on my iPad to make sure there wasn't more. There wasn't. The wait until Something Real is here isn't all that long, but it's going to be painful. I need more now! I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

HOLY WOW. CANNOT WAIT FOR SOMETHING REAL!  After our last wild ride with Hanna Thompson in the world of New Hope in the Here and Now Series, I’ve been waiting anxiously to see what Lexi Ryan had in store for her twin sister, Lizzie. Let me just say: Holy. Wow.  This book has the sexy times and the crazy twists and turns we’ve come to expect from Ms. Ryan, and when you hit the last page you’re going to be dying for SOMETHING REAL. Her writing is flawless, her plots unique and engaging, and with every Lexi book I pick up, it just becomes more and more apparent why she’s an automatic one-click for me and why I am constantly telling people to read her books. In my opinion, she's outdone herself with SOMETHING RECKLESS. If you’ve never read a Lexi Ryan book, this is a fantastic place to start, but if you want to get the full, amazing effect of the world of New Hope, do yourself a favor and pick up UNBREAK ME and start at the beginning.

This book is simply perfect. Ms. Ryan took circumstances under which I would normally disconnect from the characters, and instead made me empathize with them and become so entranced by their story. Sam and Liz are more similar than they'd like to think and when they finally give into the attraction that's been burning for a while, it's simply explosive. Yet, they're derailed multiple times afterwards and when they finally reconnect both have even more secrets that they're hiding than before. And we all know secrets don't make for the best relationships. However, despite the mismatched pair, and the skeletons lurking about these two could not be more mean for one another.  To me, Sam and Liz brought out the best in one another. They both feel the urge to be worthy of the other and in general they're a very cohesive pair in and out of bed. Don't get me wrong the chemistry between these two is simply volcanic, but in their daily exchanges I just found myself grinning like a fool when they were together. Maybe it's because as a reader you see both POVs  and know what the other is going through and know that they wholeheartedly deserve each other.  However, it's like having dominoes all lined up and you hit one and they all fall down. That's what this book was for me. Going into it I knew Ms. Ryan per usual was going to rip my heart out, trust me she delivered. I saw the fragile pieces start to fall apart and just started shaking my head. Liz and Sam are put through the absolute wringer in this book. I have to confess, when I first started reading this book, my ereader was malfunctioning and on two separate occasions it opened up to two HUGE spoiler pages. And I will admit, that the spoilers I inadvertently read almost made me DNF this book. BUT, I put my faith in  Ms. Ryan, because she has yet to write a book I wasn't head over heels in loe with, and trudged on. I couldn't be more glad that I did. Read out of context, or without connecting with characters first those spoilers could definitely turn a reader off of this book, but Ms. Ryan made, what could be, unredeeming qualities completely understandable and actually made me connect MORE with the characters. I don't know how she does it. It's quite possible there's subliminal messages in her books, but either way this one blew me away. Liz and Sam have officially crept to the top of my favorite New Hope couples. Until further notice (aka when Something Real shows up on my bookshelf) I'll be sitting wracking my brain as to how this will all play out. There's so many twists and tuns that haven't finished yet, I'm nervous yet thrilled to see where they all go. And more importantly how Sam and Liz will fair in the end. End of story - an absolute MUST read! Happy Reading! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Something Reckless by Lexi Ryan   This book told a story that kept my face glued to my Kindle until the very last page and then….. I was tortured to learn that I won’t find out what happens to Liz until MARCH, 2015!   OH NO!!!!!   I know I don’t have a choice but I am going to have a very tough time waiting.     Liz and Sam’s story is incredible.  It kept me riveted and wondering and most of all….it left me SURPRISED!   I would have never guessed how this book ended but I couldn’t put it down until I got there. Lexi Ryan is one of my very favorite authors and the reason being is simple.  She tells a story better than most and keeps her audience on pins and needles as to what is going to happen.   She keeps the interest of her readers from t he first page until the very last page.   GREAT JOB by Lexi Ryan.

I have been super excited to start Lizzy's story, especially after getting her twin sister Hanna's in the Here and Now series. As twins, Lizzy and Hanna couldn't be more different. Where Hanna has struggled with feeling she has never measured up to her sister in terms of beauty, Lizzy has had her own set of problems to face. Having fallen in love with her best friend's older brother and known the pain of being rejected by him, Lizzy has sought love for a long time, never truly finding it, as her sisters Maggie and Hanna have. Being beautiful and able to get any guy she wants sounds good in theory, but Lizzy is not satisfied with that. She wants the more that puts the glow on her sisters' and friends' faces and she wants it with one guy, one she has never let go of: Sam Bradshaw. Things with Lizzy and Sam have always been intense. Even though he may have denied her younger self, that doesn't diminish the fact that Sam has had feelings for her all along. He knows it wouldn't be right to take advantage of her, knowing he couldn't give her the more he knew she wanted and needed. After getting her heart broken by Sam one too many times, Lizzy now finds herself looking for love on a dating website called Something Real. She has had numerous dates, none of them producing the results she's looking for. She forms an online 'relationship' with a user named riverrat69 and she enjoys the easy, sexy banter between them. She doesn't know who he is, only that he lives in New Hope and judging by some of the things he says, she finds herself hoping it's Sam she's talking to. I know people use online dating services all the time, but the sexting between her and this River, really made me wary and uncomfortable. I know she wants him to be Sam, but there's still that unknown factor and it almost felt she was cheating on Sam with someone she wanted to be Sam... but didn't know if it was. Whew. Confusing, isn't it? I felt for Sam. He has made some mistakes in his life and now they are coming back to haunt him. His father wants him to make nice with the governor's daughter and all he can think about is Lizzy. He wants her, but knows he shouldn't, especially after everything that happened involving his sister and the betrayal and resentment she still harbors towards her. I loved getting to check in with our other New Hope couples as well and see them happy. I feel that is so important in connecting series like these. Ryan has a knack for leaving my heart flayed open at the end of her books, so it's no surprise she did so in this one as well. After the big revelation at the end of the book (a big HELL-TO-THE-NO), I am desperate to see how things will unfold for Lizzy and Sam. I also have a sneaking suspicion Sam's past is also going to be a big part in the next book. March seems really far away about now!
