This book was very interesting to me. One, when the boys went in search of their father, they were completely assisted by another, something the Tillermans don't usually do. Two, the book was very tricky in that it started and while you thought, similiar to other Cynthia Voigt books, that there would be many more obstacles. To me, it ended quickly. Taking this into account, I would give this book four stars because it is still a nicely written story about two brothers who are complete opposites of each other and who, together, head off in search of their father who left them years before their mother did.Over all, it is another one of my favorites from the amazing Cynthia Voigt.

Sons from afar is a good, but not great, book. It's good, and it has a fantastic beginning. It's about James and Sammy, and how they are getting on. James and Sammy both have problems, and they both envy their brother. This book tells a little about Dicey and Maybeth, but very little. Still, Voigt made a wonderful book out of only the boys. The end was a little confusing, but it was great, too. The middle sagged a tad, but other than that, it was great and it would have gotten 5 stars, not 4.
