Carolyn Astfalk’s Stay with Me is a sweet, Christian romance about a young woman who struggles to find her way in life by overcoming past scars and without disappointing her over-protective, controlling father. Her love interest, a recent Catholic convert, is learning to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit while finding himself falling for her and facing a few struggles of his own. The challenges these two face are realistic and relatable and many times had me wondering if they could pull through. Astfalk’s engaging writing style and well-developed characters drew me in to the story, making the book fun to read and hard to put down. Christian romance readers will not be the only ones to enjoy the story’s authentic approach to love. The author’s website is also a lot of fun with recipes and excerpts from the story and a book trailer.
Stay With Me is a charming, well-written, clean romance in the New Adult genre, with the main characters being twenty-something in age. The story took me on a ride spanning the human emotions. The spiritual aspects seemed a natural part of the lives of the main characters, who were both relatable and likeable. I particularly enjoyed Rebecca's reactions to her first Catholic Mass.
