Description: This is a 360 page workbook that accompanies the LPN/LVN comprehensive textbook, Understanding Medical-Surgical Nursing. Almost every page requires students to write answers but the pages are not designed to be removed.
Purpose: LPN/LVN students are the primary audience but their faculty will find the questions useful for exam preparation. The workbook would only be useful to students who were also using the companion book, but faculty might find the questions useful regardless of the book they are using. It appears that both authors also practice in a hospital, which adds to their credibility.

Features: The study guide includes features such as chapter checklists for learning success, vocabulary practice, anatomy and physiology review, content-focused exercises, critical thinking practice, and NCLEX-PN style questions with answers and rationale. Each chapter corresponds to a chapter in the textbook. There is no index and there are no references in the workbook.
Assessment: This is a comprehensive study guide. There are a few line drawings for illustration but primarily there are many questions: multiple choice, matching, short answer and fill-in-the-blanks. Comprehensive answers are provided in the back with rationale. The pages are not designed to be turned in, so making assignments for grading would be difficult.
