Long before Germany rounded up Romani and sent them to prison camps, the Netherlands declared them undesirables. Yara's caravan disbanded when she was fifteen to avoid being driven out of the country. Ten years have passed, and she's been alone for most of that time hiding in caves and abandoned buildings. It's been a lonely life, but at least she still has one.
Stewart conceals his true identity for the best of reasons. He's not actually Romani, even though he's been a caravan leader for many years. In a bold and desperate move, he joins a small band of shifters and Rom to fight the Reich's chokehold on Europe. When they're crossing the border into the Netherlands, vampires attack.
Yara senses Romani near her cave. The stench of vampire comes through loud and clear too, along with shifters. While not nearly as bad as vampires, her people have always steered clear of them. Another type of magic plucks at her. She can't identify it, but it draws her from her hiding place. That decision tilts her world on its axis when she comes face to face with Stewart's raw masculinity and savage presence. She could still turn tail and run. If she stays, it doesn't require magical ability to recognize her life will change forever.

Tarnished Journey is a journey that takes the group to he'll and back. Literally! Stewart has finally met his match in Yara, and has been forced to reveal his true nature. Yara joins the group, and finds out she isn't at all what she thought she was. All in all, Tarnished Journey is a strong finish for the Soul Dance Series!
We have arrived to the final book in the Dance Soul series, and I hate saying that. This has been a surprising, action-packed, thrilling adventure into a dark historical, but paranormal adventure. We have new characters as well as ones from the 3 previous books. The group is trying to escape from the Nazi's, and their vampires, to where they hope the Celtic gods will help them strengthen their magic. In this book, demons have joined the vampires in trying to stop this group of gypsies, shifters, and a surprising power hidden by one of their own. We also have an unknown power held by an unsuspecting gypsy, who has just joined the group, as they attempt to escape from the evil that wants to destroy them. The world building in this series is just down right amazing and if one believed in the paranormal, extremely plausible. Do not pass up this great story, or any of the series. The author, as always, welds a strong, imaginative, well researched story to tell. I highly recommend both this book and series to all who love paranormal stories filled with "it could have happened" scenarios, magic, shifters and undying love.
4 stars. Tarnished Journey is the fourth and final book in the Soul Dancer series. The book should not be read as a standalone as this story began in Tarnished Beginnings and continues in the rest of the books. There is violence and the sex is hot and steamy so definitely 18+. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The author did a great job summarizing the previous books. As well as explaining Romani and shifter culture and some history. Mix in vampires and Nazi Germany and you have an interesting series. This is about Yara and Stewart and adds in demons as well Celtic gods and goddesses. The storyline will keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me riveted. Sad to see this series end.
