Meet Molly Bruno, the real-life prayer warrior who inspired the character "Miss Clara" in the film War Room. Learn from Molly how to pray boldly, with audacity, believing that nothing is impossible for God.
THE AUDACIOUS MOLLY BRUNO, written by her daughter MARIE ARMENIA, is a holy and hilarious mentoring resource for women who desperately long for wisdom from a Godly mother-someone who is a living example of practical experience and steadfast faith. It is also a wakeup call for older women of faith, encouraging them to embrace the calling of Titus 2:3-5 to mentor younger women about what's truly important in life.
"When I think of my mother's prayers," author Marie writes, "I remember the prayer she prayed every morning without fail, 'Lord, please send someone my way today that I can tell about you.' Everyone (and I mean everyone) who met Molly Bruno fell in love with her. This includes the Kendrick Brothers, who wrote and directed the film War Room. During filming of the movie, they met Molly, calling her the modern-day Ms. Clara of War Room. She inspired them, just like she inspired everyone around her. When she prayed, she got answers.
Molly lived a lifetime of believing she could boldly approach the very throne of God 'with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.' My mother didn't teach me how to pray any more than she taught me how to breathe. I saw her pray REAL prayers, using REAL words addressed to a REAL God. I learned by observing my mother's prayer life that the last thing on earth that should be edited is a prayer. Shameless audacity. Those words remind me of my mother's approach to prayer. She had no fear of God's displeasure or that He might scold her for asking for impossible things. She had no need to edit her heart to the One she loved. She knew He knew her heart. Having settled this between herself and God, she asked. And asked again. And got incredible answers time and time again."
THE AUDACIOUS MOLLY BRUNO will teach you how to pray with fervent hope, deep joy and abiding faith.

“Don’t be afraid to ask God to do whatever you want Him to do as long as you are willing to accept whatever He decides to do,” Molly’s Life Lesson #5 states in Marie Armenia’s book, The Audacious Molly Bruno. ~ What ~ This two-hundred-and-seventy-two paperback targets women who want to improve their relationship with God as it pertains to a ninety-two-year-old prayer warrior. After a foreword by Stephen Kendrick and introduction, the book contains thirteen chapters, two appendixes, acknowledgments, author’s biography, and notes. Due to topics of illness and death, it may not be appropriate for immature readers. Using the New International Version of the Holy Bible, the NLT, KJV, and TLB are also referenced. In this short spiritual biography, daughter of Molly Bruno, a pastor’s wife with a fervent heart toward God, provides over eighty of her mom’s life lessons of showing Jesus’s love. From the writer’s childhood upbringing to being at her mother’s bedside when she passed into glory with God, the story has recipes for being real, prayer, witnessing, understanding of the Bible, and laughter as well as how to be a godly daughter, wife, and mom and more as seen through the author’s mother. Every chapter contains gray highlighted lessons the daughter learned from her courageous and outspoken mom. ~ Why ~ New Yorker Molly was a feisty, opinionated five-foot-two-inch Italian woman who loved the Lord and wanted to share His love with those she met – anyone, anywhere, anytime. I appreciate the detailed observations and perspectives Molly’s daughter shares about this beloved pastor’s wife and her zeal for God as she promotes the power of prayer. Be it praying for protection from a supposed sniper, eliminating hot flashes, or having unexpected bills paid, Molly truly focused on putting God first in her life, and her daughter adored her for being the person the Almighty wanted her to be. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Christ or who have no interest in improving their prayer life will pass on this book. Others may find the writer tends to put her mother on a pedestal at times. Some may feel uncomfortable reading the section on her parent’s dreams and visions. ~ Wish ~ While I enjoyed and agreed with the majority of the book promoting prayer, the second chapter concerned me when Marie writes, “There is something familiar to me when I read the prayer of Jesus in the Gospel of John, chapter 17. It’s because His prayer reminds me of my mother’s prayers. The way Jesus speaks to His Father makes it obvious they know and love one another. Sounds like my mother.” It seems awkward to say Jesus’s prayers are like her mom’s – shouldn’t it be the other way around – her prayers are like Jesus’s? ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a biography of one woman’s prayer life told through the viewpoint of her daughter, this may be a good read. As someone who is ardently trying to pray more, I must remember that God is in control and His will “will be done in earth as it is in heaven” Matthew 6:10 KJV. Thanks to Hachette Book Group for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.
The Audacious Molly Bruno by Marie Armenia is the story of a real-life woman of prayer that the movie, War Room, was based on. The forward is written by War Room Director Stephen Kendrick and he shares some background information on how he came to know this prayer warrior who was the basis for Miss Clara in the movie. The Audacious Molly Bruno is full of a prayer warrior's guidance for both praying and living the Christian life. Written by Molly Bruno's daughter, Armenia shares true-life stories of growing up under the watchful guidance and love of a true prayer warrior. Armenia shares a wealth of life lessons about witnessing, reading the Bible, being a wife, mom and daughter, everyday living and how to approach dying, among other lessons. This warm book is full of both stories and advice that could help you be a better prayer warrior. The back of the book contains an appendix that sums up all of the life lessons from Molly that are shared in the book. As a bonus, I was excited to find a real Italian meatball recipe in the back of the book as well that was a favorite in the Armenia family. I would encourage anyone to read The Audacious Molly Bruno. This book had me giggling at times and shedding a few tears at other times. However, all the way through the book I was soaking up the wisdom and guidance that Armenia shared. It seems it was a real pleasure to know Molly Bruno. While I did not have the pleasure of meeting her in real life, after reading this book, I felt like I "met" someone who changed my life for the better. If you get a copy of The Audacious Molly Bruno, you can too. I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review.
