As the blurb states, this is a sequel to Temptation however it certainly stands on its own but as always, I enjoy knowing previous characters and getting to visit with them. At its heart, The Black Dragon is powerful in that it has nasty “bad guys”, a tortured (no, really tortured!) hero, a heroine who is hurting herself but is sometimes clueless [imho], and dragons and wizards. What’s not to like? Justin Moore was literally a prisoner in Ariel Harrington’s father’s basement and Ariel was a prisoner of her father’s love. Pretty simple explanation however the author weaves a great story. Justin has to deal with some pretty dark, hurt emotions and so does Ariel. Once they work through all the past hurts and misconceptions, and dark, hateful feelings, it is wonderful to read how well they work together. As I have with previous books, really enjoyed this story. I mean, I’d like to have a dragon – or wizard – in the family.
After Ariel's father kidnapped and tortured Justin, he vows revenge. The problem is that he doesn't want to hurt Ariel in the process. She was a bright light during his captivity. In fact, she is the one who set him free. Ariel also fell in love with him during that time, but knows that he is very bitter and would not return her feelings. When Justin does come back, he is ready for his revenge. The problem is, he just can't do it. He is tasked with protecting some baby dragons and in the process, he and Ariel uncover quite a few secrets. Will their love be enough?
