The Blessing Tree
Feelings are precious and treasures to be valued. I am passionate about children and their feelings. This book is about one of the most important feelingskindness. When I was growing up in Alabama, some older girls bullied me one night and I went home in tears. My mothers philosophy was Pour blessings over them. She didnt know this had a biblical basis. In 1 Peter 3:89, Paul says, Do not repay evil for evil, but blessings for blessings so that you will inherit a blessing. Hopefully, this will work for your family. The Blessing Tree introduces children four years of age through second grade to the concept of kindness rather than bullying. They are never too young to learn. The main character in the book is Woody, the Blessing Tree. The children learn how he gets his name and the process he goes through to get his name. It is my desire that this book will teach children to use kind words instead of mean words. This is an endeavor to point out that they have a voice and can use it.

About the Author

The author has had substantial involvement with children during her various careers. She worked as an instructor at Auburn University for a period of nine years, teaching seniors in speech pathology and speech. She worked as a public school therapist in speech pathology in the Opelika, Alabama, school system. After receiving a counselor of education degree from Auburn University, her most favorite job was with Hospice of East Alabama Medical Center. She worked with children with grief issues, ages five years to high school years. Many of these children needed a blessing after the loss of a parent or sibling. This book ties into “everyone needs a blessing.” Thus, the theme of this book, The Blessing Tree.
