I received this e-galley from Net Galley and Little, Brown and Company in exchange for an honest review.   Thank you both for the opportunity. The Directive is story about Mike Ford who has both a father and a brother who have done time.  Mike, the younger brother, grew out of that stage and has moved on with his life.  He has an amazing job, house and a fiance' who stands to inherit a lot of money. After deciding that he wants his brother to be in the wedding, after not doing so for a long time, he goes to see him.   That's where the trouble begins.  Mike is made to do all kinds of things that he doesn't want to do and I kind of wondered whether the bad guys wanted his brother at all. While I really wanted to find out who was using and the instigator behind it all, I have my suspicions, I just couldn't get back to it I'm not a huge thriller reader, but if they keep my attention, I can get through them.  This one was becoming somewhat redundant for me.  Maybe the fact that I did not read the first book, "500", that did not help in this matter.

Reviewed by Stephen Brayton for Readers' Favorite The Directive is the report the Federal Reserve releases upon the completion of their regular meetings. The one that determines the fate of the economy. If someone had advance knowledge of that report... In Matthew Quirk's latest novel, The Directive, attorney Mike Ford just wants to settle down with his latest job, marry his fiancee, and forget about family history. However, upon asking his brother, Jack, to be his best man, Mike is drawn into Jack's latest scheme. Soon, he's involved with dangerous people who threaten Mike if he doesn't cooperate. Their mission: steal The Directive. Of course, that's not the easiest of assignments and the deeper he gets, the more he risks. How can he keep out of prison, the grave, who can he trust, and just who is behind the entire scheme? The sequel to The 500 brings in some excellent knowledge of scams, crimes, the economy, and good ol' fashioned machinations (with some modern updates) of the classic heist. From the three card monte of the streets to the high tech Federal Reserve Bank in New York, Quirk moves with expertise and sleight of hand. Don't worry about getting bogged down in economic minutiae or techno babble; The Directive spells it out for you and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Mike Ford is someone you can get behind and yet wonder what he has up his sleeve. The one question you'll have at the end is: what adventure will Ford find himself in next? The Directive will leave you wanting more.

Intrigued! I like all the emotion put into it, making it seem real. But let me say something: I live in Seattle, and it's on the west coast. It's rainy, but I think you're overdoing it a little. The sun does come out. Clarify the season, maybe?

Just when you think the exploits and adventures of Mike Ford can't get any more exciting, along comes The Directive. A sequel to The 500, the story of this riveting character continues. Quirk, once again, combines intrigue, suspense, and humor to create a compelling novel filled with twists and turns. A terrific must-read for the summer.
