Sadly, I thought it was sappy. Characters unbelievable, storyline to cliche, and just tough to get through.

I fell in love with this series. I loved the characters!! I was so sad to finish the book, knowing it was the end of these characters lol! Very well written & I loved the family drama!! It kept it realistic. There are 3 characters left that need expanded upon (just so we can continue) ;-)

The Director's Cut is the final book in the trilogy, Backstage Pass, by Janice Hanna Thompson. The other two books are Stars Collide and Hello, Hollywood. Each book focuses on different people and aspects of the television sit-com Stars Collide. I have read and enjoyed other books by Janice; however I had not read this particular series nor the first two books in the series; in spite of this I wasn't lost or bewildered. With only a few minor instances, The Director's Cut could be a standalone book. The Director's Cut is about Tia Morales, director of the TV show Stars Collide. Tia has definite ideas and goals for her job; and for the most part everything at work is under control. Not so with her personal life.  Tia's Mom and Dad have a very bizarre marriage. Her brothers can't finish a job-including helping her renovate her home. Her sister needs a job and sees Tia's sit-com as the answer.  Through it all she and cameraman Jason Harris are constantly butting heads. Tia acutely needs to learn to apply the phrase "Let go, and let God" to her daily living and circumstances but she is too afraid to relinquish control of the reins. So she stumbles through day to day trying to keep her life under control and nothing seems to work! Anyone that has grown up in a dysfunctional family and is a "Type A" personality or a "control freak" will easily be able to relate to Tia Morales and her struggles with control. As things begin to fall apart around her and Jason gets more and more under her skin, she begins to loosen her hold and just enjoy life. Janice's terrific sense of humor is wonderfully illustrated in The Director's Cut by the use of her character's humor. She delightfully enlightens the reader with circumstances that are both believable and somewhat outrageous. I'll definitely be reading the other two books in the Backstage Pass series, Stars Collide and Hello, Hollywood.

As to be expected, Janice Thompson did an awesome job with Director's Cut. It's Clever and heart felt. You can't help but root for Tia as she gorws in her faith and learns to loosen up enough to find love. I would recommend reading all the installments in her Backstage Pass Series. You won't be disappointed.

What a fabulous book! The Director's Cut is the 3rd book in a series called "Backstage Pass". Janice is a wonderful writer! Love the character's Tia and Jason! what a wonderful relationship they have! and who can not have a heart for precious Lenora! It is so good to read a story of Christian people in Hollywood!

How good it is to see Lenora Worth exiting from her pink convertible! I was delighted to meet her again along with several other characters from the Backstage Pass series. The author has the ability to write characters such that this reader feels as if they are long-time friends. The novel can be enjoyed without having read the other titles in the series; however, the entire series is worth a reader's time. I loved peeking behind the scenes of this award-winning sit com. Hollywood personalities are magnetizing. We fans can't get enough! If you're looking for a lighthearted summer read, get a copy of The Director’s Cut! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Available June, 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group. Thank you to Donna Hausler for my copy.

My thoughts: Typically, I don't equate ANYTHING from Hollywood or show business with genuine Christianity. I just finished reading a contemporary Christian fiction novel by Janice Thompson, Director's cut, which - although I KNOW it is fiction - tends to change my mind a bit. First of all, the main character is Tia Morales and she has carved out a successful niche in the cut throat world of TV and is an award winning director. The show she directs is a comedy. The characters behind the show (you know, the real live folks who are doing the acting of the pretend characters) are really a trip in and of themselves. Next in the lineup of folks you will love meeting, is Jason Harris. Now he is the camera man. He makes what Tia wants done come alive on the screen. But he also seems to be making Tia come alive in a sense that she is beginning to awaken to some really positive vibes between Jason and herself. Tia's family is a riot. There are issues at play with each member of her family. Unfaithfulness. Uncertainty. Alcohol. Slothfulness. For each of these problems, it seems Tia is the one who comes to the rescue. The dynamics in this family are simply crazy but you will see some beauty trying to peek through in each of the characters . The romance element of this story - and YES there is a bit of romance - is low-key and definitely non-offensive. Throughout the story, Tia and Jason are clearly living their lives dependent on the faith that sustains them. Yes, I recommend this as a breezy, comedic, romance, faith-filled story of folks who are like your neighbor next door who have successes, problems, and grace filling their lives. About the author: Janice Thompson is a seasoned romance author and former screenwriter. An expert at pulling the humor from the situations we get ourselves into, Thompson affords an inside look at TV land, drawing on her experiences as a screenwriter. She is the author of the Weddings by Bella series, Star Collide and Hello Hollywood! She lives in Texas.

This book is the perfect end to the Backstage Pass series. This book tells the story of Tia and her crazy family both on and off set of the tv show she directs. Tia is is the type of person that needs to be in control at all times due to all the drama in her personal life. Tia is the director of the television show "Stars Colliide," and she runs a tight ship to combat all the craziness of her life off set. Jason is a cameraman on the show and he decides it's his job to help Tia relax and to see the way life and love could be if Tia would relax and let God and Jason in. I loved the characters in this book! There is so much love and life in all the characters that comprise this series. I also love the return of Brock Benson!,The characters make this story real and relatable which is something I love about Janice's books. This story shows how hard life can be when you try to be the one in charge of every aspect of your life and how things turn around when you let God be the scriptwriter! This story was so good and easy to read and made me laugh out loud countless time. I recommend this book and series to anyone who loves contemporary Christian fiction that will make you laugh till you cry!

Enjoyable, easy read that kept moving well. I enjoyed it tremendously. Great reminder about WHO is REALLY in control of life's circumstances. Plus, it's always good to find yourself stared at in a restaurant because you're laughing while reading. *G* And I have to say, I agree with every one of Tia's friends and family regarding gray clothing. he he

Romantic comedy at its best, The Director's Cut is the third book in the Backstage Pass series and I loved it! The engaging characters invite you to walk their story beside them. The only thing I didn't like was when it ended. It's a great summer read!
