1949, Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, West Pakistan: Journalists, Anjum Khan and Salim Choudary were relaxing
at the exclusive, members only Station Club in Mirpur Town on the last night of the Diamond Carnival
when a minor earthquake struck at 11.p.m. Some two-hours later word reached them of a police raid
on a homestead some three miles north, triggered by an incident at a cemetery.
At the homestead, the police have arrested four members of a satanic coven in the possession of a
recently disinterred corpse. Chief inspector Iqbal of the Mirpur District Police allows Anjum and Salim
to interview the ringleader of the coven as they await the arrival of Colonel Imran, the victim's uncle.
He will be taking the prisoners in to custody so he can personally continue their interrogation in
the stockade at Rawalpindi Barracks.
