The floors creak. Fog rolls down the halls. Windows are blackened to keep out the sunshine. People lock their doors against what could be in the room next to them. But there is no such thing as a haunted house...is there?
After a storm leaves her home demolished, Dory moves into the ground floor of a mysterious old apartment building. She wants nothing to do with the colorful neighbors around her and has no interest in the building's history. However, when she discovers a mistake in her lease, Dory must travel up through building in search of the landlord. What she uncovers are a series of paranormal oddities she never thought existed. As Dory faces the many monsters hidden behind apartment doors, she must come to terms with her own choices, in addition to becoming the target of the wickedest resident in the building.
With the help of an amnesiac ghost, a cavalier vampire, and an agoraphobic werewolf, Dory learns what her new home has to offer. What starts as a simple trip upstairs will become an arduous journey.
Wonder and monsters abound in this humorous paranormal adventure reminiscent of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

If you are a fan of The Wizard of Oz and urban fantasy, this is the book for you! Megan Vaughn takes this story to new levels and darker corridors though this comic adventure to see Dori's landlord on the top floor of her apartment building. Trials and tribulations bar her path, but with her help of a ghost, werewolf and vampire, she journeys ever onward! Delightfully humorous and breathtakingly imaginative, this isn't a story to miss out on!
This modern day parody of the Wizard of Oz is witty and inventive. Dory is forced to move into an odd apartment building after a storm wrecks her old place. It's supposed to be temporary, but the amount of time on her lease is more than she is comfortable with. Now it's off to see the landlord! So starts a life changing adventure through her new building where her neighbors are not your typical apartment dwellers. This is an entertaining read full of monsters and mayhem. Each ascent through the building brings new revelations and a tighter bond between Dory and her new friends. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the Wizard of Oz or anyone simply looking for a fun read.
