Thomas Thornton, thought dead following a shipwreck and left a widower after his wife died in childbirth, is drawn to Katherine the moment he sees her at the ball. Though she is more beautiful than ever, he senses something wrong in her behavior. But is it enough to keep him from claiming her as his wife?

What Katherine and Theodora mean for ill, God meant for good. Angry at the way Nicholas Thorton had humiliated her by ending her engagement, she and her cousin set out to have their revenge. The plan: make Nicholas's brother, Thomas fall in love with her, and then jilt him at their wedding. The only problem was that Katherine never realized she could fall for the man... Great book. Loved the story!
