Such a well-told story with characters you could feel were real. Honestly, it was a pleasure to get lost on this book for a few days.

Dakota Jones, discharged Army Ranger and a wanderer at heart, has come to Sullivan’s Crossing to visit family. He may be coming around to see what it’s like to be settled. He’s just not sure what he wants to do or what or who would make him stay. Sid is getting her life back together after her divorce and melt down. She doesn’t want a man messing with her head but Dakota does intrigue her, at least he makes her laugh. Sierra and Connie want to be a complete family, but Sierra fears family genetics, then a chance through tragedy brings them a beautiful possibility. Sedona’s marriage is in jeopardy. Her fear of becoming like her father undoes her mental stability and her family holds an intervention which scares her even more. Wise Sully, stable Cal and Maggie, and Sid’s brother, Rob give their loving help to all. Robyn Carr has a way to bring so many social issues to a story and in this one there is the consequences of mental illness, a destructive stalker, two families trying to combine, and foster parenting and adoption that can go so right or so wrong. Although the author brings many ideas and situations to us, she shows how loving, intelligent, and caring people (family or friends) can result in solutions and possibilities for the future. I look forward to the next Sullivan’s Crossing novel.

The quality in Carrs books is that they seem so real. Her characters are the people we know. Their lives have ups and downs and we the reader really care what happens to them. That they sare also filled with love and romance is an added bonus.

Check out the full review at Kritters Ramblings The third in a series that takes place in a small town semi near Denver, CO. The series centers around the Jones family - four siblings, two boys and two girls and this book centers around Dakota Jones. Dakota Jones returns to where his siblings had flocked and is going to stay here for a bit until he moves onto his next stop. An Army guy, Dakota Jones hasn't kept in touch with his family and hasn't ever really made a home, but maybe he will want to make a home here.
