The Golden Bough, A Fairytale Ballet for Children
A little girl, driven by curiosity and pity, releases a magical golden bird from a golden cage where she was imprisoned. In the middle of a snow storm and again when the monsters attack, the girl revives the golden bird. After each rescue, the golden bird promises to pay off the debt in the future. Soon, the girl runs into problems at her new school.
She was teased by other schoolgirls and then attacked by bullies, and on top of that, she still doesn't understand her lessons. The golden bird comes to the aid of the girl, turns her old shoes into new, magical shoes, and gives her advice and support. With the help of a golden bird, a little girl overcomes all difficulties and understands the miracle of compassion that transforms everything. Eventually, she realizes that it is compassion that matters the most.
Written in 1996, the fairy tale was staged in seven acts as a full-length professional ballet which premiered in 1997 with over 100 dancers, with choreography, costumes and scenery designed by the author.
