I just discovered Jennifer Stevenson's wacky, wonderful series, and plan to read more in it soon. As others have said, her stories are original, amusing, and pretty darn hot! There are nods to romantic fantasy, but the tone here is sly and subversive, while staying light and fast-paced. Her heroine Jewell is definitely her own boss, though susceptible to the charms of men, and she manages to call the shots with two hunky guys, one of whom literally sweeps her off her feet... five stars

I've read the whole Brass Bed series, and I enjoyed them all as much as the first one. I've also read several other books by Jennifer and I feel that she is getting better and better. This is a good author to follow. five stars

I really enjoyed this book. It's quirky, it's well-written, the premise is imaginative and the development works. Yeah, it's a light read; at times hilariously funny, often witty as well, which is a different and even better thing. I love that in a book. It's got depth, and so do the others in the series. This author has imagination to spare! I can hardly wait to see what the author does next. five stars

It's witty, it's zany, I read it on the train and spent a happily distracted time. It takes place in a confused half-magical future Chicago where odd incidents (pigeons have started smoking cigarettes, some homeless kid has a Genii in a bottle that he's renting out, causing havoc) are never explained -- much to the betterment of the book, I think... I found the characters delightful, the dialogue zinging, and the fast-paced leap from outrageous situation to outrageous situation refreshing. *****

I loved the idea of magic overrunning Chicago, to the consternation of the city leaders. The dialog between the personalities was witty and thoroughly entertaining, and I plan to read more of this series! four stars
