The House in Lordship Lane Julius Ricardo has arranged passage from Brittany across the English Channel at the request of his friend, Inspector Hanaud. In the midst of a ferocious storm, they rescue Bryan Devisher, which may or may not be his name, who has fallen, or perhaps jumped overboard from a prison ship.
