About the Author

Regina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn’t actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing. Since her first Regency romance was published in 1998, her stories have traveled the globe, with translations in many languages including Dutch, German, Italian, and Portuguese. She and her husband of almost 30 years reside in Washington State with their sweet Irish terrier. Regina Scott is a decent fencer; owns a historical costume collection that takes up over a third of her large closet; and is an active member of the Church of the Nazarene.

I did not think I was going to like this story at first but it was very entertaining. It is a romance but as indicated has a bit of spy mystery as well. Katherine is trying her best to hold together her family and prevent their descent into poverty. She manages the household and everyone in it as well as a campaign to marry off her half sister so she doesn’t lose her fortune. She devises a plan and executes it like a General even though her nickname is the Colonel. In executing the plan the book is interesting and entertaining with an unexpected ending. One cannot say more without giving away the plot. Suffice it to say it was quite good!

Sweet - kissing only - though slow to start. Didn't really keep my attention.

The Husband Mission by Regina Scott is a fabulous historical romance. Ms. Scott has delivered a well-written book. Alexander, Viscount Borin, thinks he'd make a fine spy. Katherine and her helpers have targeted Alexander to become her sister's husband before her birthday so she doesn't lose her inheritance. Alexander and Katherine's story is full of drama, secrets, humor, spice and outstanding characters. I enjoyed reading The Husband Mission and look forward to reading more from Regina Scott soon. The Husband Mission is book 1 of The Spy Matchmaker Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.

Lots of unanswered questions and no book to answer them. The author I quest want the reader to write their own story. What a waste.

What a fun book! I had a smile on my face from start to finish as I was reading. The story is full of plotting, each character trying to manipulate the others in ways that resulted in a great comedy of errors. The characters were lively and lovable and the entire book a pleasure to read. She was sorry to have to go against his wishes, but his life was at stake. This review was first posted on

In a time when a woman's entire life was devoted to making the best match, it was refreshing to have a character that was intelligent, strong, and independent yet still capable of falling in love and wanting to marry in the end. Katherine was decades ahead of her time !
