I like the back stories that tie everything together. Love Sara. Love Will. Love them together. Will has come a long way. Can't wait for more GBI adventures.

As always, love anything Karin Slaughter writes, especially a Will and Sarah novel. I finished this in 3 days, and I am sad that its over!

read. As others have written, hard to put down! My only regret is how weak Will becomes in this installment. With love brings strength, but this time Will seems to regress. Angie has just got to go!! Looking forward to the next installment.

I have been dying here waiting for the release of pieces of her (august 21) and in searching around for another book to read I ran across the kept woman. Not realizing it was a Will Trent? book I kept looking.
It took a few days of looking until I realized it was a Trent book and quickly skoffed it up. Now I have read the first 7 books 2 to 3 times for some and waiting for the next. Much to my surprise as I waited forever for the next Trent book
I then started to read the kept woman happily, joyfully and got to page 100 by shear force of will. It was so long drawn out, I was skipping pages to get through it but only made it to 100. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED. It just was not the usual mind gripping story I was used to from Karin. I just kept putting it down and could not get into it.

I have enjoyed other books by this author but not this one. Maybe if I had read the previous books in this series I may have felt differently but as a stand-alone I didn't like. I felt no attachment to any of the characters and the story itself just seemed too convoluted or boring. I don't mind technology in stories, afterall, you can't read a present day book without it, but it was over-kill. Also, didn't think the ending was complete because I'm sure she wants you to read book #11. I'm sure I'll be reading other books by this writer, but not this particular series.

The Kept Woman is the eighth book in the Will Trent series by popular American author, Karin Slaughter. When the body of an ex-Atlanta PD officer is found in a warehouse early on a July Monday, Deputy Director Amanda Wagner calls in her GBI team. The location is the property of wealthy basketball star Marcus Rippy, whose crack legal team recently extracted him from a violent rape conviction, a case that Special Agent Will Trent has spent six futile months working. Will and Special Agent Faith Mitchell arrive to find the cop’s car in flames.
Also present at the scene is the newest member of the GBI team, medical examiner, Dr Sara Linton. While Dale Harding’s is only body, the excessive amount of blood seems to indicate another victim, perhaps Dale’s murderer, has left the scene. Things get even more complicated for Will and Sara when items at the scene point to the involvement of Will’s wife, Angie Polaski.
The story moves along at a fair clip, and just when the reader thinks they know the direction things are going, Slaughter hits them with such an unexpected twist, she might well be sued for whiplash injuries. It touches on domestic violence, the marketing of sports stars and the social mindset that allows sports stars to often get away, scot free, with violence and sexual assault.
In this instalment, Slaughter further develops her main characters, in particular, Will. The banter between the characters is often quite hilarious, and at one point, the tension is broken with a tangential remark from Will that will have readers laughing out loud. Faith gets a few good lines too.
Slaughter does enjoy giving her readers at least one truly despicable character, and in this series, Angie Polaski wins the prize, although Lena Adams probably comes a close second, and Amanda Wagner is occasionally in the running. Nasty and ever manipulative, Angie’s latest machinations are no balm to the fledgling relationship that is forming between Will and Sara. Angie does not hesitate at a murder (or three) to achieve her own goals, and, as one character says, “would f@ck over the only guy in the entire world who doesn't think you're a worthless, cold-blooded bitch”.
Slaughter once again gives the reader a fast-paced tale that builds to a gripping climax. Readers who have enjoyed Slaughter’s previous books will wonder if this one makes the grade: the answer is a resounding “yes!” Fans who have been patiently awaiting the latest Will and Sara installment will not be disappointed. A brilliant read!

This storyline was heart pounding and filled with unexpected twists and turns. I hated Angie for playing head games on Will and Sara. As the story progressed, each of the villains were twisted in a jumble of sins and Angie was in the middle of it all. The crimes were horrible and the clues led to a semi-cul-de-sac. I wanted Will to figure out the puzzle pieces with Faye and Amanda rather than shut them out while he processed the crimes in his head. As he opened up, he, Faye and Amanda figured out the the reason for the murders and the interconnectedness of the villains.
After the murders were solved, an interesting point of view was revealed through Angie's voice. She almost sounded sane ... until you remember she was a manipulative, cruel, killer.
I would highly recommend this book.

“The Kept Woman” by Karin Slaughter follows the discovery of a body of an ex-cop at a construction site of a nightclub belonging to a famous basketball player Marcus Rippy, investigated by Special Agent Will Trent.
The case is further complicated by Will’s own connection to it through his wife Angie, whose gun is found at the scene of the crime, as well as the background of Rippy, who was previously the biggest suspect in a rape case, and is protected by expensive lawyers that money can buy. Then there’s the fact that the ex-cop wasn’t the only victim of the attack—as footprints show there was a second victim as well, a female, who escaped.
Overall, I found this to be an interesting read—particularly for those who like police procedurals or have read the previous Will Trent books in the series. There’s also some interesting writing devices which I found intriguing—like the switch in perspective (with the perspective switching to Angie’s later in the book) as well as, closer to the end of the book, a flash back to a week before the actual crime took place, which helps put the events into perspective. I found this to be a fast read with intriguing characters, not least of which was Angie herself.

I love Karin Slaughter’s books. Especially the Will Trent series. So I was anxious to read this one. However, if you haven’t been following this series, you will have a hard time keeping up with everything in this book since much of it is about the characters that we have come to know in the previous Will Trent books
When a murder victim is found in an unfinished nightclub, owned by famous sports stars, GBI is called in to investigate. As the body count goes up, the story gets complex and has lots of twists. Slaughter’s writing style flows smoothly, making all her books must reads.
This book goes into a lot of back-story about Angie and Will. Then about how Angie hates Will’s new girlfriend, Sarah, and some of the nasty things Angie does to her. Angie is involved with the current case the Police Department is working on which brings in her past with the department.
If you didn’t know Will was terrific, you might not even like him after reading this book. He wasn’t at his best. Angie was worse than ever. She was one of those characters you love to hate. I can’t wait until she is out of Will’s life completely.
