Shawn Flynn and his fiancée are excited to start their new life together. They are planning a wedding and have bought a new home. The last thing the two of them need right now is a new cat.
But their recently purchased house seems to come complete with a stray orange feline—a cat with a vibrant personality and a talent for mousing. So Shawn soon finds himself with a regular companion. Little does he realize that this cat will shortly become more important to him than he can possibly imagine.
As Shawn’s personal life begins to shift in ways he never saw coming, Kitty remains a constant source of stability and comfort. Shawn gave Kitty a home, and now Kitty gives Shawn the love he needs to heal.
In the spirit of James Bowen's bestseller A Street Cat Named Bob, THE KITTY is a touching and inspiring story of heartfelt companionship that offers an uplifting perspective on what it means to find true friendship in this world. Anyone who has ever shared a meaningful connection with a pet will fall head over heels in love with Kitty and Shawn.
As Shawn discovers, sometimes we don’t even realize we need to be rescued—until we are.

Reviewed by Kim Anisi for Readers' Favorite When a cat decided that he wanted a new home, The Kitty: Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him by Shawn P. Flynn begins. The male cat turned up when Shawn moved into a new house. Soon it was clear that the cat had decided that Shawn should be his new owner, and the human's life soon revolves around the needs of the cat. Which cat food does the cat like? Is the house cat-friendly enough? Unfortunately, Shawn's private life takes a downward spiral just a while after the cat turned up. Fortunately, however, the cat named Kitty helps Shawn to get through the problems and find joy in life again. It proves that cats are the better people (sometimes)! I am currently volunteering for and living in an animal sanctuary - where we also have cats - so books like The Kitty by Shawn P. Flynn catch my attention. I love animals and love reading stories about them, too. The story of Kitty and Shawn was very moving, especially towards the end. It was also very surprising to me, and an eye-opener because I never expected such a heart-warming story to come from a man. The words and photos contained in this book definitely give me some hope for mankind - there seem to be some true male animal lovers out there. I would recommend this book to all animal lovers, not just cat lovers - but beware, the end will very likely have you in tears. I read the book in one go!
The book is good.
House hunting can be quite an adventure. You are never sure what may be inside the house or what may happen. An orange cat shows up out of the blue. Though not a cat person Shawn decides to take the cat with him. Shawn's life changes in significant ways. The cat is with Shawn though it all. Well written and somewhat sad. Mr. Flynn opens his heart to share with the rest of us very difficult issues. it's amazing to read about the cat. It's as though someone saw Mr. Flynn's future and decided to give him some support. Mr. Flynn also sharing the grief with the reader. I think many will love this book. I didn't find any issues. I gave this one 3 cheers out of 5 because although it's a good read, it isn't my cup of tea. ~Copy of book provided by author and I voluntarily reviewed it.
“The Kitty" was truly heartwarming. Shawn tells his story- that is beautiful in itself- in an inspiring and flawless way. Kitty lover or not anyone would love this book!
This was a great read for animal lovers. I think Mr Flynn shows us again how many wonderful people out there truly care about cats in need and are willing to love them and care for them. I suggestion this book to anyone one who enjoys a good animal story
"Shawn Flynn has written a moving story of the secret powers of redirecting our focus off of ourselves and onto another, even if it's an animal, and especially if it's a cat. Flynn has vividly shown what we are supposed to do! We are all social creatures that are supposed to help other living things. When we do what we were put here on this earth to do, the world becomes a much better place for everyone and everything, including ourselves. 'THE KITTY Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him' should be on everyone's bookshelves who wants to live in a better world, and especially those that love cats."
I have never considered myself a "cat person" –rather an animal person. But I am rethinking this after reading this heartfelt book. What a nice read that reveals that the love of our special family members makes an amazing difference. Shawn Flynn captures his story and creates a setting that enables his readers to visualize and feel the moment. His caring heart is revealed and paints a beautiful picture that genuine love does rescue us. I highly recommend every animal lover take the time to read!
I have just finished reading a cat book called The Kitty - Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him by Shawn P Flynn. Simply written but this a depth of genuine raw emotion that can’t but touch the readers heart in a profound way. The book excellently highlights the value other sentient beings bring to our lives. As a vegan I know only to well how all animals have something to teach us, not only about themselves, but also about ourselves too. I read this book in under an hour but it will stay with me for a very long time! Highly recommended. Anita Kelsey - BA hons, MCFBA, CIDBT published author of Claws. Confessions Of A Cat Groomer.
