About the Author

Karla Darcy lives with her husband, several tame geckos and an occasional friendly snake on the Treasure Coast on the east side of Florida. She has always felt she lived in the Regency period in a past life. Her early writings were musical comedies and humor columns so it was an easy transition to the romantic and humorous style of Regencies. Lovely dresses, masked balls and witty conversations, which contained saucy double entendres, were the perfect cup of tea for this author.

Karla discovered years ago that you don't have to be a bitch to write a Regency but it helps. Tone is everything in the era of witty repartee. Dialogue has to have that snap that makes Regency conversations sparkle.

Karla Darcy has written a novel of delightful characters and compelling action. It was hard to put down once I'd started. Faced with few choices to support her younger half-siblings Blaine makes the difficult decision to foresake dreams of love, marriage and children to seek employment on the stage in London. She becomes a sensation and is much sought after by men who would make her their mistress. Lord Farrington is one of the many, but she refuses them all. Blaine's half-sister lives with her young brother in the company of an older aunt. They are comfortably settled in the country and are neighbors of Farrington's younger brother. Circumstances arise that require Blaine to impersonate the aunt and the fun begins as she and Farrington are thrown together as his brother seeks to secure her sister's hand in marriage. I highly recommend this lively, enchanting tale. Thank you, Karla Darcy!

What a fun "romp" of a story.  It got quite complicated at times keeping track of the heroine.  I applaud her stamina to keep up all her roles throughout the book.  I know I never could have handled it all.  I am so happy that things all turned out great for all of her.  My first book by this author, but I am definely planning on searching out other books by Ms. Darcy.

A nicely written book with romance, performances, sly quips and a touch wickedness. I would recommend this to any reader who needs a bit real romance.

Bright, witty, well drawn characters. Blaine is intelligent & irrespressible, leading a secret life as an gifted actress, solitaire. The description of drew as the dark, sensual aristocrat is sizzling. He's determined to make solitaire his mistress, but she's really an innocent country miss from a well born family, that is impoverished. Even after six lonely years as a successful actress where the ton take actresses only as mistresses, she is determined never to be one.

I got this book for free but would be glad to pay. Yes,it follows the formula but still keeps your interest. Idon't think I have read a Regency with an actress for the heroine. Good book!

Lovely characters, interesting premise. It is rare to find a regency romance focusing on the theatre or an actress, yet the novel remains not only exciting, but also believable. I will be interested to see how the author may build on this succesful book.

Despite a somewhat predictable plot line, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, largely due to the author's writing skill and ability to create suspense and interest. Often, I could accurately predict what was going to happen next in the story but kept reading simply because I so enjoyed the way the author conveyed it. Grest read!

Lots of fun watching Blaine juggle three roles to support her younger brother and sister. Faithful retainers, a titled villian, and a rousing ending.
