CHAPTER 1

Forgiveness

How could you hurt me so?
You were supposed to protect me,
Love me unconditionally.
You were supposed to chase away the monsters
Not become one.
What happened to you?
Why would you hurt me so?
We never had that father daughter relationship.
No, instead I was a pawn in your sick game
A throw away, a runt.
When did it all go wrong?
Well the cycle ends with me.
You may have broken me,
Used me for your own pleasures
But you will never break my spirit.
Because of you I am a better person,
A better parent,
And a better human being.
I am better than what I came from.
Better than the damaged little girl you threw away.
Can you guess the most powerful feeling for me?
Well, that feeling is forgiveness,
To be able to forgive myself.
You were the monster,
The sick soul that feed on my innocence.
I was only a child,
Always trying to fight you.
I forgive myself.
You can't control me with the anguish any longer.
Everything happens for a reason and I truly believe that.
So goodbye hurt,
Goodbye anguish,
And goodbye to the chapter in my life you stole from me.
God is always with me.
I am a beautiful, strong and motivated woman
That overcame the obstacles.
So when did I beat you?
When I let go of you and forgave myself.
Forgiveness is the hardest step in any trauma.
It's not forgiving the people that hurt you;
It's forgiving yourself for the things you
couldn't fix or change.
The past doesn't make you who you are.
No, it's what you do with your past that
creates your character.

Everyday

I never thought I deserved to be happy.
I never thought I would find someone to love me for me.
I never thought anyone would accept me for who I was.
I never knew I could surpass my anguish.
I never stopped trying to bring a smile on someone's face.

But all that changed when I fell in love with you.
Everyday you make me so happy.
Everyday that passes I fall more in love with you.
Everyday you tell me how beautiful, sweet and
amazing I am.
Everyday I thank God for giving me an angel
when I was beginning to give up hope.
Everyday my anguish is melted away all
because I have you.

I am Breaking Free

I am breaking free from your bondage,
Letting go of all the anguish.
I will never again be your hostage.
No I am breaking free.

You stole my innocence,
Took it away when I was a little girl.
Nobody knew. Hey what a coincidence.
But I keep breaking free.

I was stronger than I ever should have had to be.
Always fighting with everything God gave me.
He knew what he was doing.
He gave me the strength to keep breaking free.

You may think you can get away with everything.
News flash! People know the truth.
They know that the mask you put on for the
world was just a scam.
So there, I am still breaking free.

So I beat you in the end,
I continue to break away from your powers everyday.
There are two paths I could have taken.
The first is the path of destruction,
Letting my morals get all shaken.
The second path is the one I chose.
Breaking free was rising above the past.
Creating a better future for myself.

So I will always be breaking free.

Precious Souls

In and out.
Your little chest rises mesmerizing my soul.
I stand there watching your little eyes flutter
while you dream.
Oh there's a smile.
What are you dreaming about dear one?
Can you hear the train whistle blowing?
Are you eating some ice cream?
Are you dreaming about daddy and I?
Where are you?
Are you exploring an island for some treasure?
Or maybe flying the airplane that catches your
eye in the sky?
Maybe you have a pet dinosaur.
Dream on little one.
Dream of the animals that cuddle you.
Dream of the peaceful river flowing through your mind.
Just dream on my precious little one;
For I will always watch over you.

I kiss your cheek and close the door.
Happy tears sting my eyes.
You are my everything.
The greatest opportunity in life is being a parent.
To see you both play, run, and laugh is empowering.
Thank you for being so precious.
For giving me a purpose.
For mending my broken heart.
The years are going to go by fast.
It won't matter if you are 10 or 65,
You will always be my babies.

To all the parents,
Enjoy that bundle in your arms.
God's precious reminder of his love.
Protect them from harm,
Teach them to be strong,
And always tell them they are loved.

A Message Written To A
Daughter

Katherine my wonderful daughter
You are so cool
You are on the honor roll
Even in the garden you like to hoe
That's why I tell you to go, go go!

You do her chores without any hassle
That's why when you graduate
You should wear the gold tassel.

Being a teacher is your goal
That's why you strive for the honor roll.

My daughter you are so fine
You do your homework always on time.
I tell you to keep it up and I promise
You will shine.

Loving you is nothing new
Giving hugs and kisses is something we like to do.
That's why loving you is not hard to do.

Chocolate

We love chocolate both daughter and mother
But not as much as we love each other.

The chocolate we eat is very sweet
But our love for each other can not be beat.

My favorite Place

As we ride to school in the big yellow bus we see
all the different sights.
We see big and small trees.
We also see brown and gray houses.

When we get to school the brown brick wall is so big
That you have to bend your neck just to see the top.
When I get off the bus I can smell the cool crisp air.

When I look to see the top of the school,
I see birds.
The birds sing a very pretty song.
You probably would need 12 buses
To go around the entire school.

When I am in school there are a lot of kids around.
When the kids walk by our room
I can hear them talking about their assignments.
Sometimes they are so noisy
That my teacher has to leave in the middle of class.

At the end of the day I smell the moisture in the air
From all the wet recess clothes.
I love Midway School.
When the day is over
I get excited about coming back tomorrow.

Moving Forward

We all start out small
Just learning how to crawl
Learning new words,
Especially no and bad.
The first words are "mom" and "dad".
Changing diapers and cleaning up spit
Become part of a routine.
Good bye peaceful nights, hello screaming fights.
Two o'clock wake ups
And it's time to change the sippy cups.
A tooth grows in
Creating a bright grin.
3 years old you are vaccinated for many colds.
Age 5 you start school
Dressing like a fool.
No one cares how you look,
As long as you can read a book.
ABC's and 123's are very important.
1st and 2nd grades are no gone
And It's time for 3rd and 4th to move on.
5th grade deals with DARE
A program showing us how to care.
7th grade goes by fast,
Especially when your teacher is a blast.

One more year till high school.
One more year to understand how to be cool.
You joke and flirt with the hottie in math,
Even though he should take a bath.
9th grade is here at last
And
(Continues...)
