Overview

The Moonglow Cafe (Paige MacKenzie Series #2) by Deborah Garner

New York reporter Paige MacKenzie has a hidden motive when she heads to the small town of Timberton, Montana. Assigned to research the area's unique Yogo sapphires for the Manhattan Post, she hopes to reconnect romantically with handsome cowboy Jake Norris. The local gem gallery offers the material needed for the article, but the discovery of an old diary, hidden inside the wall of a historic hotel, soon sends her on a detour into the underworld of art and deception.

Each of the town's residents holds a key to untangling more than one long-buried secret, from the hippie chick owner of a new age café to the mute homeless man in the town park. As the worlds of western art and sapphire mining collide, Paige finds herself juggling research, romance and danger. With stolen sapphires and shady characters thrown into the mix, will Paige escape the consequences of her own curiosity?

I got this book to change the pace in my subsequent reads and that much it did. However, it was slow moving and predictable luckily it was short.

Sometimes you read a book and at the end, when you put it down, you just smile. That's what I did when I finished The Moonglow Cafe. There are some awkward phrases and a few moments where the author's hand is a bit heavy on the plot, a cliche or two, but nothing really damaging. Overall, it's just a good, satisfying read.

Well written book. Very enjoyable reading. It’s good to read a book that had a wonderful story without over half the book being about sex. Thanks for a wonderful read. John

A great book I could read without four letters words and sex on every page. A good plot keeps your attention. Couldn't wait to see what was going to happen in each chapter. Thanks for the story..
