This is an honest and heartfelt account of how non-cooperative hearts/minds can be.  There is so much in there that I, as the reader, found myself nodding my head in agreement with, and places where I laughed out loud.  I also really loved how the book stresses the message of non-judgementalism!; we can think in our minds how situations should be handled, until we find ourselves in that situation, when it becomes a whole other can of bananas.  The reality of situations has always challenged and rewritten what my preconceived notion of "what should be done."   My old therapist told me how a famous therapist associate of hers did absolutely the opposite of what she had written when it came time for her own illness and passing. In any case, I agree that by embracing everything that happens to us and that we go through, we are better able to help others negotiate their problems.  Bydlo’s clients are lucky to have her.   Why write fiction when truth is so much more interesting?  It was kind of like Dorothy in Oz for me; she had to go on this journey and face grief and life-challenges like winged monkeys and Margaret Hamilton, to realize what the answer was.  I loved it; if you are looking answers to questions you didn’t know you had, this book will resonate with you.

Read it all the way through in one night. Wow! This book is fresh, funny and unique. This is the first time I have ever read a book on the subject of hypersexual perimenopause. Amazing, articulate, funny, totally hit home. The author reveals so much about herself and describes her journey in such a way that I felt I could really relate to her. You have to read this story to believe it. Thank you, Erin Jae, for telling it.

Wow, what an emotional journey Okay, done in two reads. I really enjoyed her "voice". I was hooked by Chapter 3. Love that she was open to going through what she did from start to finish - but have to say that I wanted to shake her and say - don't risk your marriage. My friend is reading it next. Anyway... very much enjoyed that aspect of her writing. 'Boyfriend in a box'... a beautiful story.

Just knowing that the boat I am in is bigger than a one person canoe pulls me right out of a slump and into a happy smiling mood. I actually admire that Erin Jae can talk about all this. And turn it into a story. With funny undertones. She is probably a great therapist. The fact that she can verbalize what she went through is fantastic. I can't. Anyways, I love this book!!! And it is so fun imagining what is real and what is fiction. That's what good books do, allow you to use your imagination.

Loved this book. The thing that struck me was that even in the most wrenching, heartbreaking circumstances, I found myself laughing through tears. How did the author do this? It was like she could find the humor in the most painful of situations, especially one scene where she's in her office. You would have to read it to believe it. I could really relate to her journey.

This book is an interesting and (probably) very new combination of how-to and memoir. Even though I'm sick and was pretty tired last night, I read about half of it from 10:30-12. The lively, natural voice; the refreshing openness about the author's weaknesses, the strangely interesting insider info about how to run a practice ... they all combine for a compelling read. kris h

Erin Jae Bydlo's insightful look at herself, while trying to give insight to others as a profession, is a must read for any new therapist. I couldn't put it down!

This is Erin Jae's personal journey from one vulnerable experience to another. It follows her path from her first love, through her professional life, her marriage and motherhood and then inevitably reconnecting with her first love through Facebook. I give this story a five out of five hankies because you will be crying with laughter and longing.

"Wish your book had come with a warning: "Do not start reading on the night before an early appointment." I was up the entire night reading your story. Couldn't close it until the last page. The memoir touched my heart, soul and funny bone. I have given it to my sisters and girlfriends...and there's a waiting list! A must read for the summer...Thank you!!!"

I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down! It is funny, thought provoking, and pulled on my heartstrings. As a woman in her 40's who recently rekindled a long, lost love after 23 years apart, I found it very relatable. While reading this book, it brought back that magical feeling of a first, true love that never really ends.

Heart wrenching account of why this woman's life took the path it did. The author makes you feel as though you are experiencing every joy, every let down, every struggle as if it's your own. I felt like I was reading about my own life. Page after page, experiences I could have had. People I felt like I knew. I wonder if the author was talking about me or if she just knows how to pen a gripping book. I can't wait for her next entry. Highly recommend!
