I just couldn't put it down! The Price of Trust by Amanda Stephan introduces us to a 24 year old, Carly, who is trying to desperately outrun her past. Trusting in God has become easy for Carly, given her past circumstances, but trusting in other people is almost impossible. When she finds herself in a small town with no job, no place to stay, only two suitcases to her name, and the problems from her past following fast on her heels, she has to learn how to trust the other people that God has placed in her life. I was drawn to the characters and found them to be well thought out, consistent, and believable. The story-line was well-paced and the suspense was used exceptionally well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you enjoy books by Dee Henderson or Terri Blackstock, you'll love The Price of Trust. ~Kristi Burchfiel, author of Without Regrets: A Study of Ecclesiastes

Amanda Stephan has managed to take equal parts faith, intrigue, humor, and love and turn them into a delicious recipe called "The Price of Trust". This enchanting story of a frightened and lonely young woman fleeing an abusive ex fiancee kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The journey the main character Carly undertakes with the Lord turns her from a terrified victim into a confident, stand-your-ground, loved, and cherished woman. If you are looking for a christian romance with lots of spice and zest thrown in for good measure, then look no further than this book.

Author, Amanda Stephen writes her first novel, The Price Of Trust as if her work has already reached the top of the New York bestsellers list! Carly Richards the main character is on the run. Now that sentence alone is a powerful one considering this book is characterized as a Christian Romance. Why is Carly on the run? Did she break the law? Is she running from something or someone? Carly's old clunker of a car finally comes to rest in a quaint town in Montana. This is where Carly finds a piece of heaven in the town's people, her church and a handsome farmer by the name of Joe Baird. Love does start to blossom with Joe but will it last? Will Carly's past destroy all hope for a brighter future in someone she has grown to love and trust? You will have to read the book yourself to find out Carly's fate. As for this first time author, I am anticipating the release of her next novel.

I love this book because it is not an overly gushy romance novel. There is suspense, mystery, and love of course involved in this wonderful story. No naughty scenes that I'd have had to skip through, it is very clean in that manner. Captures the love the couple feels for each other in a very real way. The characters were likable and genuine. Very well written Christian suspense and romance book. I recommend it to everyone I know!

I have a bad feeling when I get a book that is a debut novel. With all the reviews I write up it is kind of a feeling that the debut novel is not going to be as good or the writing will stink. Yes I know, kind of prejudiced but you know how it goes if you review books as well. Anyways, I was so surprised with this novel!! I loved it from the beginning. Amanda writes like a pro and I would never have known this was her debut novel. The thing I most enjoyed was the dialogue between Carly and Joe. They are so humorous and I found myself laughing more than once. I absolutely loved the whole book!! Joe is a sweet guy and Carly is very independent but at the same time learns to rely on someone other than herself and that not all guys are out to hurt her. Way to go Amanda!! I will definitely be on the lookout for your next book!!

This is Amanda Stephan's first novel, and I think she definitely has the gift to write! I appreciated this book for many reasons, the way she weaved the gospel message into this story, the importance of prayer throughout the story, and the way her characters relied on God, even through tough times, without blaming Him for everything bad that happened to them. Carly Richards finds herself pulling into a small town in Montana with a car that finally dies on her. She needs a place to live, a job, and for her ex-fiance not to find her this time so he can drag her back to Texas and abuse her again. She finds a job at the local hardware store where the owners take her under their wing and also give her a small room above the store. At first Carly resists the friendliness of those in this small town, but the kind people around her begin to soften her heart and she learns to trust folks again. Joe Baird has also slowly been making progress with Carly and the two of them just seem to hit it off right from the start with their teasing and fun-loving humor. It was just enjoyable to watch their friendship quickly turn into love. But Carly's past will soon catch up to her and it won't be pretty when it happens.I will be putting this story on my favorites list of books I have read. It was just a delight to see the people in this book live out their faith and put their trust in God. (The only thing I would change is the cover of the book; I didn't think it did justice to the story.)I would like to thank Amanda Stephan for sending me her book and letting me read it and review it for her. I am one of the lucky ones!

I love the storyline, it has suspense, romance (who doesn't like romance ?) and most of all it is well written by Amanda. She has a way with words, her very one style and I found it to be gentle. I did like the main characters, but I also liked the brother, Todd and the way Joe and him got along. Very nice and inspiring, promoting faith in Jesus and Christian relationships with friends and family.

What is the value of trust? The further Carly runs from her past the closer she gets to her future; she just doesn't know it. She only knows fear and loss as she is constantly pursued by a love gone wrong. Fortunately for Carly she runs out of gas next to a small town that offers more then just fuel; it offers hope. In "The Price of Trust" Carly struggles to rebuild her life, identify who she is and possibly learn to love again. With the help of a few unlikely friends and her faith in the Lord, Carly travels down the obstacle filled road of life. Carly's fortunes turn as she finds employment with an old couple at their hardware store and join them at their church. Unbeknownst to her, every move she makes is being watched and reported. As Carly becomes more comfortable with the town and makes new friends she must confront and conquer her inner turmoil and need to run. Convinced she will be found at any moment she is constantly looking over her shoulder. Her confidence builds with each day and soon becomes aware that she is indeed helping others overcome their inner battles and past heartbreaks. In "The Price of Trust," we see the power love and faith have to heal all wounds; to bond and rebuild what was once broken. Will Carly find the strength to love again? Will she be free of the haunting past that pursues her relentlessly? From the first word, Amanda Stephan weaves a story of survival, drama and romance. With each passing page, it is virtually impossible not to be absorbed in the story. The more you read the more you connect with the characters and it is their tales that begs to be seen. "The Price of Trust" contains an innocent sensibility that is endearing and lends to the romance of the story. The strength of the story lies in the characters; their growth, flaws and strengths develop and transform from page to page as circumstances and challenges confront them. This novel is for those who enjoy romance in its truest form; a story that allows the reader to escape the world around them. Author Amanda Stephan's debut novel is sure to draw you in, wrap you in a tapestry of emotions and deliver a story that will dance in your mind long after the last page.

This read was full of suspense. It tells of a young woman who has evaded her abusive fiance for two years. She finally lands in a small town where she hopes to keep her anonymity as she prays for the chance to stay awhile. She does not plan on falling in love with the town's most eligible bachelor. And he certainly has his own heartaches, and wasn't looking for another relationship. You'll have to read the book yourself to see if the two can let go of their mistrust and take a chance of finding true love...or does the ex-fiance finally catch up with our heroine and make good on his threat? Carly Richards (aka Carly Adams or "Red") has been on the run for two years from her abusive ex-fiance, a man that her father didn't actually approve of. It seems that no matter where she goes, he tracks her down. This time, however, she finds herself stranded in a small town in Montana without a vehicle. Her parents are deceased, so she is on her own except for God, whom she trusts to care for her. Carly lands a job at a local hardware store run by Sam and Sue. Since they can't pay much for wages, they offer her a tiny apartment above the store. Sue, the match-making romantic, tries to hook her up with Joe Baird. Because of her past with Ian, her ex-fiance, Carly finds it difficult to trust men. God has other plans for her that she's not so sure of. Can she trust God in this area of her life? Amanda does a great job of instilling suspense, danger, jealousies, humor, and romance in her debut novel. Not only is Carly wondering if or when Ian will trap her, Amanda had me wondering, too, as Ian didn't take no for an answer when it came to the end of their relationship! Kept me reading continuously to figure out the source of Ian's information of where she was, what she was doing, with whom she was associating with, and what he planned to do about it and when. I liked the fact that Amanda isn't afraid to have the heroine praying throughout her situations. She has Carly surrounded by a lot of praying Christians that help her through the circumstances she finds herself in. I would have liked to have seen a few more insidious incidences to up the ante of suspense a little more. Other than that, great job! This book was provided by Amanda in exchange for my honest review.
