This is an excellent training book that covers all areas of speed bag training. The speed bag is normally viewed as a boxing activity or boxing equipment but he presents speed bag training as far more than boxing. He describes the techniques and movements in a much more precise method, more like learning a musical instrument such as drums. He presents individual techniques like drum rudiments and how each can combine to the next, along with practice tips and insighs of over 30 years of experience. He has created a unique method or writing speed bag combinations for the novice to practice, in order of difficulty, until you can move your hands "all around the bag" in hundreds of possible combinations. If you follow his guide, to start at the beginning and work the pages and information in order of presentation, you will soon find yourself punching far better than you ever thought possible. AND you will understand exactly how your are doing it. I found myself using both fists and elbows together in ways I never thought possible. Yes, this book if far more than a boxing activity and I found it to be a perfect guide to setting up and using a speed bag in my own home, with my family and we are all very proficient, thanks to this book. Highly Recommended for anyone considering speed bag training.
The book is the ONLY comprehensive Book dedicated to learning and using the speed bag. It covers all equipment, fist punching, elbow striking, martial arts techniques, including kicking. IT is NOT out of Print.
This book is THE definitive book on speed bag training, covering many fist and elbow striking techniques from all around the bag. The author has recently had this book formatted for all e-readers, so it can be read easily on all size screens or digital devices. The book itself is a great information source and the DVD training video is also a great help. One can only hope he will somehow make the appropriate sections of the video become interactive with the e-book formats. I recommend both the Book and DVD. In a few months of study and practice my own skills on the bag went far beyond what I ever thought possible!
