I found this book when my doctor referred me to Dr. Rone and told me he had published a book on the subject. I have done a lot of research over the last several months and was excited to have a book to read that would give me a glimpse into what this particular doctor thought (I had a horrible experience last year with an endocrinologist that resulted in me telling my primary doctor that she had to figure things out because I wasn't going anywhere else). After reading this book I can see that Dr. Rone is going to be the kind of doctor that really listens to his patients. It is very encouraging to know that there are endocrinologists out there that take more than the numbers from lab tests into consideration. The book was very informative; Dr. Rone thoroughly explains lab tests, what they can tell us, and what they may not tell us. He does a great job of discussing the various treatments (synthetic vs. natural, T4 only or a T4/T3 combo), a subject that I’m very interested in learning more about. This was an informative book that I read through easily. I recommend it to anyone with thyroid issues and anyone that suspects they may have thyroid issues. It will give you information that will help you to understand lab tests, medications and give you a basic understanding of all so that you can have a good discussion with your doctor at your appointment.
This easy to understand book explains the intricacies of hypothyroidism. The author is a medical doctor who is an endocrinologist. I found it very helpful for my situation, which is not typical. Many general practitioners only look at one part of the thyroid picture. Dr. Rone explains how some of these doctors may not be treating patients who need it. I recommend this book.
Found this book to be informative and to also confirm my findings dealing with my hypothyroidism. Each time I have changed Internists they have ran TSH only and because it runs low, decide to decrease my thyroid meds.
