Coloring books for adults? When I first heard about this new trend, I have to admit that I was a little confused. I mean I have spent many hours of my life coloring. I have colored everything from Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears to the Power Rangers. I spent hours coloring as a child and then again alongside my children. When I think about it, there really is something very soothing to the process of staying in the lines and loosing yourself in a task. When I saw this coloring book, I just had to see what this new generation of coloring books is all about. When I first got the book, I was immediately impressed. These are high quality pages with some thickness to them. The book is a nice size at 10 inches square. The book even has a dust jacket trimmed in gold foil. This really is a different kind of coloring book. It has a certain class and character that I didn't expect to see in a coloring book even with adults as the target audience. The artwork is beautiful. I am not any kind of artist myself. I am honestly doing really good to just stay inside the lines (and I don't always succeed with that simple task). I can still appreciate beautiful artwork and this is really just lovely. I loved the whimsy in the artwork and I felt myself becoming nostalgic for my childhood as I turned the pages and toured the little girl's room along with the fairy and her friend owl. Because it is coloring book, I felt like I became an active part of the story. I noticed details in every page that I most likely would have missed because I was helping to bring the art to life. I found myself looking for the owl on every page. I really loved the pages with detailed patterns. What is really wonderful about this book is that no two people will have the same experience. The end result will always be different and will reflect the individuals tastes and preferences. I would highly recommend this book to others. This is the first coloring book for adults that I have had and I plan to try to get a few more. This book would also make a fantastic gift along with some nice colored pencils. I would definitely look for Daria Song's work again in the future. I received a copy of this book from Blogging for Books for the purpose of providing an honest review.

This book pleasantly surprised me, because I didn’t realize there was such a thing as an adult coloring book. I could feel my inner child squeal in delight at that. As soon as I got it and looked inside the book, my first thoughts were “wow, it’s beautifully done”. It’s so lovely that instead of coloring the art in the book, I decide to make scans of them and than color it. This way, I can keep the coloring book in it’s original condition because it’s a masterpiece on it’s own, but I can also color in the scans as many times as I like and in many different ways. You can even color in the book jacket cover as well! Of course, there might be some people who might ask what’s the difference between an adult and children coloring book? With children’s coloring books they are very simple and easy. But with an adults coloring book it’s sophisticated and detail. Some are even challenging (taking a few or more hours to complete for how detail the art is and how creative a person might be with their coloring), which makes it very satisfying when you’re done with it. It’s also relaxing and a wonderful way to occupy your time when you have nothing else to do. I could certainly see myself bringing this along whenever I have to wait at the doctor’s office for my father to come out. Or any other situation that requires me to wait. Also, The Time Chamber tells a little story and it’s pretty cute and simple. I certainly can't think of anything that I didn’t like about this book. I loved it and recommend it for any adult that likes to color and anyone that’s curious about it. [Note: I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.]

This was my first excursion and experience with an adult coloring book. I found it interesting and certainly intriguing in the story and artistic line. Daria Song has created a sweet little fairy that lives in a clock. She leaves the clock - The Time Chamber - and visits the bedroom of a little girl while she sleeps. The book provides opportunity to find repeated use of images. The very detailed drawings will provide opportunity for anyone that enjoys coloring with pencils or gel markers a tool with which they can let their imaginations run amok with splashes of color to fill in the black and white pages. Take a break from the chaos of life and spend hours immersed in the intricacies and the magic of The Time Chamber, a coloring book for adults. The red haired fairy leaves her time garden to visit our world. She brings with her, a few magical items, which you must find hidden in the pages. Everything she touches is a magical new adventure for her. She explores our world as the little girl sleeps. When the girl awakens, the fairy retreats back to her own world. I have always enjoyed art. Whether it's painting an original piece, coloring a fuzzy poster, doing a paint-by-number or doodling in my son's coloring book, I find relaxation in expressing myself through my artwork. So when I discovered coloring books for adults, I did a happy dance. I have spent hours coloring in The Time Chamber. The detail is incredible and the artwork intricate. I also found the story line enchanting. Although, I did find a few inconsistencies with the patterns that my O.C.D. did not like, I was able to overlook them and enjoy my time. Overall, this is a very charming book and I absolutely love taking time out of the day to relax and color. I've wanted an adult coloring book for some time now so I was excited when I saw that Blogging for Books had one available for review! This is a gorgeous book with lots of intricate and lovely pictures ready to be colored. The cover of the book is also gorgeous and the pages are made of a very sturdy, good quality paper. I already colored one of the pages, and look forward to coloring the rest! A very lovely book indeed! I recommend it to anyone who enjoys coloring, young or old! (though it's definitely more geared toward women than men!) I received a free copy of this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.

Yet another new coloring book to add to my collection. I really can't get enough of these things. Weirdly though I find it hard to find the time to actually color in them since I am always reading, taking care of my little, or sleeping. I love sleep! The Time Chamber, like The Time Garden, tells a story as you go through it. While there are words, the vast majority of it is told in pictures that you can color. This book tells the story of the fairy that lives inside the clock. Just like its predecessor, The Time Chamber is beautifully done. The pictures that you get to color are quite beautiful on their own and have the promise of being magical once you finish. The paper quality is very nice and feels quite thick. It feels like it may be the kind you could feel safe using markers on. However, that being said, the pages are double sided which makes me hesitant to actually try it out. I don't want to accidentally ruin something. The Time Chamber is very well done and will give you many hours of enjoyment. A definite must have for any adult coloring enthusiasts as well as for those who just want to color and relax. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of The Secret Garden coloring book series, or this book's prequel, The Time Garden. Daria Song's illustrations are stunning, with gorgeous details on every page. Daria Song's coloring book series is different from other adult coloring books in that it features a beautiful story within the pages. The Time Chamber continues the story in The Time Garden as we follow a tiny fairy who enters the human world at night from her home inside a cuckoo clock. Unlike the first book, the story in this coloring book is scattered throughout the book in short words and phrases. I found this very enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing. The text does not detract from the gorgeously illustrated pages whatsoever. The dust jacket is removable and can be colored, as well as the actual cover of the book, which does have a gold hue but is still perfectly capable of showing color if using colored pencils. The cover does have a slight shine to it, so I'm not sure how it would do with water based markers or gel pens. The illustrations from this book are printed on both sides of the paper, using good quality white matte coloring paper, comparable to other adult coloring books. I use Prismacolor Scholar colored pencils with this coloring book, and they work beautifully. The colored pencils glide across the smooth, thick paper to create bright, vividly colored images. I think that markers would bleed through the pages, so use caution if that is your medium of choice. I'm planning to experiment with watercolor pencils and paints in this book, and I think the pages will hold up well if used with a light hand. The binding is quite strong, and it does take some stretching and breaking of the spine in order to lay the book flat to reach the details otherwise lost in the binding, but this didn't seem to weaken the binding of the book. I encourage fans of The Time Garden to check out this sequel. I found the illustrations even more pleasing than the first book in the series. The presentation of this book is beautiful, and it would make a terrific present or coffee table book. Daria Song is working on a Christmas follow-up currently for release in South Korea, and I can't wait until it is released in the United States as well. I will certainly be picking it up as well to add to my collection. I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.

The Time Chamber by Daria Song is a beautifully detailed coloring book made especially for older readers. These beautiful scenic drawings in of themselves are a work of art. Adult coloring books have been popular as a method of relaxation- similar to the benefits of meditation or yoga. Coloring books are becoming a mainstream past time for adults and no longer obscure. On social media I am constantly surprised at the down to earth individuals who are replacing their shopping selfies and Starbucks selfies with coloring book selfies. The beautiful binding and removable jacket can also be colored as well. This makes a great gift for yourself or a friend. The luxurious quality of this book, thick pages, and elaborate art, is unexpected considering its affordable retail price. Its an affordable luxury certain to brighten up anyone's day. Armed with a sharpened set of colored pencils, this book can become a personalized masterpiece to treasure and even pass down. Although it is marketed for readers of all ages, it is most suitable for teens and older due to the tiny detail. I do not feel a grade school-er would appreciate the fine detail of this book, and it would be a shame to destroy a beautiful book with scribble. This is a coloring project that takes time, perseverance and patience. I gave it to my teenager to color and even she was in awe and hesitated telling me she did not want to ruin it. She started the first page then gave it to me to finish. I could imagine many readers who appreciate art will hesitate before making the first stroke with their pencils as well. One thing to keep in mind is the fine detail and repetition of tiny geometric shapes and designs that are a part of each picture. Some of these pages can take hours to complete- maybe more than the time allowed in one sitting. It takes patience. Be sure to have a pencil sharpener handy when starting this book. Don't bother with crayons or markers. The story line and theme is like a fairy tale. I feel as if this would also make a beautiful book if it was full color rather than a coloring book. I almost would have preferred this to be a traditional full color story than a coloring book. As a blogger I received a copy of this book published by Watson Gupthill for the purpose of writing this review.
